As a punt protector. So I guess not much quarterbacking? Bayless oughta spend a few hours (weeks) on this topic.

Eta reported by Shefter on twitter.

Very degrading IMO. Reported by Shefter so it's got legs.

From an accuracy standpoint, I'll take TJ Conley throwing the ball on fakes before Tebow.

This role should progress into Tight End and Fullback, IMO. Tebow would be a helluva asset to someone if he is used correctly, just not directly behind the center.

He's being paid millions. If they tell him to go fill the Gatorade jug, he needs to hustle over and handle up on it.

Degrading should not be a word that is thrown around, IMO.

It's degrading to a guy who wants to prove himself as QB. Sure he's making millions and I wouldn't be one to complain, but it's still pretty degrading.

I think he has had ample time to prove himself as an NFL QB, and he has not done so. Last season's late game "heroics" were merely breakdown in defenses. Timmy Tebow is no NFL QB and the world knows this, which is the only reason they all tune in to see what crazy bullshite he does next.

I don't think Sanchez has much of a future left either, but he has a better future than Tebow.

For those who think its demeaning... really? Larry Izzo was a long time captain of the Patriots and he was a special teams player. Hell, Aaron Hernandez was probably a top 5 tight end in the league last year, and he played almost all the special teams. However he can help the team is the role he'll take. He'll be starting by game seven anyways.

Money should not factor into this discussion.

If you make $75k/year and you think you're an asset to a company and your personal goal is to be promoted and go even higher up the ranks in that company, and your company tells you they'll still pay you that amount, but you're gonna work in the mail room sorting mail, that's gonna feel degrading to you.

That he makes a ton of money doesn't change that. He's still a human being trying to prove himself at his job.

Now of course, if he's still the backup QB, it's obviously not nearly as bad. But if they're just transitioning him to be a special teamer, yea he's gonna be disprespected, that's completely normal.

That's one of the worst and most pointless arguments ever.

Why do people continue to go to that?

He hasn't even had a full season at qb yet.

Yep, and Bama gave LSU the game on Nov. 3. All Bama's doing, LSU had nothing to do with it.

There has to be something greater going on here as well.

You don't trade for a guy to pay him $5mil or whatever it is they're paying him to put him on your punt protect team.

There's more to this, obviously.

I agree with you a lot, but I don't buy that argument. Personally, I think the Jets are idiots if they are using their backup QB on special teams, because its probably one of the most dangerous positions in sports. Who's going to throw the ball if Sanchez gets hurt? Devin McCourty was a top 10 corner entering* last year, and he played gunner on kickoffs, hell our talented but fragile safety (he plays both FS and SS, there really isn't that much a difference between the two in NE's system) is the personal defender for the punter.

i agree, that was my main point of my 2nd post, saying there was more to it, there had to be.

That being said, which part don't you agree with? I'm confused lol.

Assuming he's the upback, they'll snap it to him on 4th and 4 from the 50 in Week 1, then every team will have to prepare more than usual for the fake run or pass every week.
