| A Tribute to David Stern (Posted on 4/16/12 at 10:03 am)
I believe there was a similar thread a couple of days ago, but in honor of the press conference this afternoon I thought it was appropriate to mention it again. First, although he may have had his reservations about the initial move of the Hornets to N.O., this guy has been committed to keeping the NBA in New Orleans since the team got here. I've always believed that to be the case and I feel vindicated today. In fact, Stern made specific reference to the Jazz relocation a couple of days ago and said he was determined to see that it not happen again. Second, he is one smart guy. The nixing of the Lakers trade and then the subsequent trade with the Clippers turns out to be the best move we could have made. And he absolutely engineered the sale to Benson. You have to hand it to him, that was some smooth work with a great result for N.O. During the course of things, he also demonstrated a knowledge of detail about the city and state that was impressive. Plus, he is one smooth talker . . . in a good way. He's a powerful commissioner, and rightfully so, imo. Not saying he's perfect by any means, but he was good for New Orleans and Louisiana.

He won my vote when he thoroughly owned Colin Cowherd on his own radio show when he did an interview about us. A must-listen if you haven't heard it.

That was hilarious. It was even better then when Kate upton hung up on him on his show after he asked a bunch of creepy questions

I'd like to hear that. I could totally see Cowherd being the sex offender type. "She didn't say 'no.' How could she?"

It's hilarious how whenever he gets owned or hung up on by a guest, like with Stern and Kate Upton... he ALWAYS tries to play it off after like he owned them or he was asking tough questions. Hilarious.

Great read from Ziller on SBN today about what the league did and how much Stern did right. On phone, no link. But worth looking up

I'll be the first to admit that I was calling for Stern's head after the botched LA-Houston deal, but after seeing it all play out, I'll gladly eat the crow on that one one.
