I was watching some gameplay and it's kind of got me itching to pick this up. It looks pretty fun. The maps look pretty decent too. Just feel like I need a change of pace from COD. I believe i've read some pretty negative stuff about it but I really can't remember what it was. So, what the general impression of the gaming board about the game?

Negative. They all suck pretty much and are spawn trap city. If you get on the spawn trapped team it will make you want to strangle kittens.
The game could have bee fun if it weren't for the maps IMO. That and EVERYBODY on your team will be a sniper...book it.
The campaign is great though.
I wonder if anyone is even playing it now with BF3 out.

I actually just read that they are considering shutting down the MP servers for it. 
Yeah, I noticed the spawn trapping after a few videos.

i tried playing a week ago and it said there was something like 1200 people total on all of the servers, but every time i tried to connect it would tell me EA servers are not available at this time. I did have fun with the multiplayer, but the spawn traps were pretty bad.
Single player is awesome, even if it is kinda short

i enjoyed the campaign, couldnt play more than 2 minutes of multiplayer it was horrendous

Best campaign I've ever played. I loved the MP but everybody was a sniper. And the killstreaks were kind of wonky and fricked up.

If you ever got to some of the higher killstreaks, they were deadly. The strafe run and predator missile were pretty awesome.
