This is the Rapid Report from Glenn

April 11, 2012 8:45 a.m. - by Glenn Guilbeau
F Johnny O'Bryant III on coach Trent Johnson to TCU: "It caught us all by surprise, not knowing anything about it beforehand. I talked to him at the banquet (April 4), and we were all talking about next year. I definitely would like to know who they're going to bring in. I'll make some decisions after that. We'll see what happens."

whoever is hired is going to have to build the basketball program from the ground up...which really isn't anything different than if tj would have stayed. i believe the new guy will have more success than tj because he will at least put forth an effort, something tj didn't do...evidence is the last 3 f'n years.

could possibly lose Hickey and JOB3?

I'm not worried about JOB. Why would he sit out a year somewhere with a transfer? He could leave for the NBA next season with a strong year, regardless of the coach. Hickey is a different story. I will be surprised if he doesn't transfer.

Just saw this one too.

O'Bryant, and others, considering options

by Glenn Guilbeau, CBSSports.com

Freshman Johnny O'Bryant III is not sure if he will stay at LSU with coach Trent Johnson leaving for TCU. "Right now, I'm not making any decisions one way or the other any time soon," he said. "Everything's kind of up in the air right now. I've talked to a lot of the other guys (teammates). I'm not sure who's staying and who's leaving."

This. The only thing I could see him doing is go play overseas for a year or something like that.

Why do all of Guilbeau's 'Rapid Reports' come out a week after they would be relevant?

They pretty much only serve to stir up shite that was put to rest already.

Trent Johnson is useless. Alleva should have fired his arse after 2010-2011 and we'd be way better off now.

couldn't agree more. All the players have a right to review their future. Hopefully the search will get the right guy and they will stay on the ship. If not, can't blame them if they leave.

But this is a defining moment in Tiger basketball. At the time 4 years ago, we all thought TJ was the defining moment. In the end, he turned out to not be the recruiter that a D1 program needs. It's the lifeblood of the program.

So now we're down to Tim Floyd, Randy Livingston, and Drew for most fans. With Baylor's program > LSU, why would he leave other than a boatload of money and the prospect of one year of Gathers? Floyd sounds great on paper, but these kids were playing with blocks when he was with the Bulls, they don't know him. Livingston gives us the best chance to recruit Louisiana. Not sure of his X's and O's and his out of state recruiting abilities. A dark horse would be Conroy of Tulane. He knows the state and region - and especially the Piedmont (NC/SC), and has built relationships. Given what he has to work with, he's done pretty well.

JOB is just voicing his concern with all that is going on around the program......a good hire and meeting with the players will solve it.

Be patient guys

his career is very comparable to Hudson so far. Hopefully he plays well in games that aren't in the SECT though

Yeah, don't know where people get the impression he is a one and done. 6'-7" power forward just doesn't scream one and done with a weak outside game.

He man handles his opponents, who are high schoolers, totally different realm when he's seeing people his size every game.
