| Golf Handicap Discussion (and general golf discussion) (Posted on 4/10/12 at 2:54 pm)
After playing golf most of my young life i started to keep an official handicap last year. I've now come to the decision that this system seems jacked up. My scores can vary so much that I don't believe my handicap should be quite as low as it is. so here are my last 20 scores. i challenge you to guess what my current handicap is??? (no i did not include course handicap. however i prefer to play the tips on an average course or 6800-7000 yards, 6300-6500 minimum. Depends who i'm playing with) The reason my rounds stretch back so far is because most of the golf i play in is scrambles due to work and other things. I didn't find many weekends last year to play single rounds because of travel. Also the two terrible rounds you see in August 2011 are from the mid-am. After that explosion i took a break for a while. 4/7/2012 80 4/6/2012 76 3/31/2012 83 3/27/2012 83 8/7/2011 86 8/5/2011 90 7/23/2011 75 7/7/2011 82 7/1/2011 80 6/26/2011 76 6/20/2011 79 6/18/2011 79 6/11/2011 82 5/18/2011 77 5/15/2011 77 5/10/2011 87 5/3/2011 82 4/30/2011 76 4/29/2011 79 4/9/2011 79

I would bet it's close to a 3. Best 10 of your last 20. And that means yours is average 76-77 and that's prob on courses with ratings in the 120's

It's really not possible to tell you what your handicap is without the course rating and slope that you played to shoot those scores. Assuming an average course though, I'd guess that you're about a 6 or 7 based on those scores.

At a course rating of 5.6 and slope at 11.2 all your scores entered. You're about a 7 handicap. It's not going to be completely accurate until you enter all the correct information.

Depending on the slope and course rating it will be closer to a 5. I'm an 8 and my scores are generally higher than that on average.

my guess is you are a 4 or 5 handicap. the cap is not your average, its what you are capable of on your best day. Looks like you have shot 75 and 76 adn a couple of79s

Handicap also varies because you can't take anything over a double bogey on any hole, Your handicap is going to be lower than you would think.

Not exactly. If I go out and shoot 85 ten times, then one day I find a horshoe up my arse and pull out a 75, my handicap isn't going to be a 3.

I'd say 6 or 7. but with the up and down of scores....I have to question if you are being true to yourself with not taking mulligans, etc. Envy how much u get to play though.....

Well I am an 11 and it looks like my best is 4 shots worse than yours , and my worst is 4 shots worse than yours, I would say you are a 6 or a 7
