No we are taking the word of Timmy Byrd, former LSU Tiger and leader of two of the top B-Ball programs in Louisiana over the past decades (Reserve Christian and Riverside) Tweety Carter played for him as did Ricardo Gathers.

He is next in line to become a icon in LA Sports ala John Curtis and Don Shows...

My old high school coach is an arse't coach at Baylor. If Scott Drew is not interviewed for the LSU job Tues./Wed., I am going to call my old coach and find out the truth of whats going on regarding an interview/offer or not. I will wait until Wed. night early about 6:00pm, then I'll let the rant know. He will tell me, we talk occasionally, he actually calls me about various people from our past regarding funerals, marriages, kids born, careers,etc..

I dont think Timmy Byrd would have said anything if there wasnt strong reasoning behind it.

I would bet my left arm that the conversation was about having Gathers hold off on signing until he sees what LSU wants to do...

Anybody know if LJ Rose and the other kid committed to Baylor signed LOIs?

Dan Wolken is the real deal. He wouldn't just make that up. Former Memphis beat writer, national basketball writer, now national sports columnist for the Daily.

He's tuned in, especially to college hoops.

Wouldnt leaking it just piss Drew off and push him to LSU more? I'm sure LSU's AD would know this is minor violations and fans would still get excited over the hire..

I don't think it's worth it with all the crap Baylors about to get hit with.

They got hit, and it was with a fly-swatter, not a hammer.

Possibly. Calculated risk.

And for those not paying attention, the insinuation Wolken is making is that Baylor leaked the NCAA stuff to tarnish Drew in the eyes of potential suitors (LSU).

That won and made the elite 8. I'm cool with that.

I understand your thought behind this, but that's just one year. We're looking for somebody who can do it year to year.

This was leaked a long time ago and has been an on going investigation for a while and the only thing found was 1200 phone calls made during off time. I can tell you anything you need to know about Baylor. My good fiend is a pretty high up guy there and well in the know. He said Drew loves it at Baylor but could listen if the price was right.

- speculates that the worst will be getting docked a scholarship or two and Drew may have to sit out a few games next year (5 or 6)
- says Baylor should feel pretty good that the NCAA was on campus for 3 years and this is all they came away with

Jason King said this..

Who has sent his best two players to play for Drew at Baylor.

That's Drew's second elite 8 run. His first run was with probably the best team in the country that year.

Hey! Go for it. We are admittedly not a basketball school, but the consistent success on the football field (minus the last game) is still a good recruiting device. If the guy gets things going, the money will come.

If we can pull in Scott Drew, I will consider LSU a three sport school...We are there in football and baseball...

Rose and Austin both signed with Baylor. I don't know how the releases work, but if given the opportunity, I think Rose may come to LSU. I don't think I'd expect Austin to come though.
