Searched for a thread on a rifle of this caliber and nothing came up.

Been plinking at the range lately, purchased a marlin 60 and this last weekend shot it, a mossberg .17 hmr, and a few other rifles that don't pertain to this conversation (mosin nagant that kicked like a mule).

After shooting the .17 and doing a little research on the round and price of good rifles that shoot it, I'd like to purchase a Savage 93 series. Anybody have one? I'm thinking I could be accurate up to 200 yards with it easy. We were grouping 5 shots in about a 4" group at 100yds with the mossberg. I heard the accutrigger is a nice feature on the Savage.
TIA

G with what King suggested. That is a fine piece of equipment.

I bought a barska scope off amazon that was getting good reviews too, it came with rings and I mounted that baby on there. It didn't need much tweaking and it was grouping great

I want one. But I know I'll just end up getting a 10/22 instead

Maybe one day though

I have this one:

I love how accurate the little gun it. I do not like how the magazine fits in the gun. If you put the gun on you back with the sling the mag protrudes and sticks right in your back.

I'm also not sure that the gun would be effective out to 200 yds. That may be just a little too far especially if there is any wind whatsoever.

Fun gun
Savage you cant beat it
I have the BSA sweet 17 on both mine and its perfect

only thing is that 200 yards you are shooting, what are your expectations? Wind tosses that little bullet bad

You don't need thumb hole stocks and such. I have a plain Jane bull barrelled gun that is a real shooter. I love it!

I have a Savage 17 hmr that I love. I did shoot it for a couple of seasons after darkness fell at coons and other critters and such, but never hit them. I walked around for a season or 2 not knowing if it was the alcohol or the gun. Come to find out, my scope was off, way off!

I sighted it in and used it this past season to reek havoc on the squirrel population on my lease.

I myself have a 17hmr and 17 mach 2 both are marlins...but i recommend the savage just because of the triggers. With that said i LOVE my marlins, very very accurate..and get the bsa sweet 17 scopes. BEST SCOPE BY FAR

It seems cabelas and bass pro have a ton of them. Only difference is the stocks and barrel finish. Any rec's?

You think a fixed 4x32 would be fine or would you opt for the variable?

I liked the reviews on this one but 20x50 seems retarded.

They're doing it wrong.

You can probably find them cheaper pretty much anywhere.

I bought my stainless bull barrel with accutrigger brand new for I think $325.
