I feel like a defeated frenchman. Honestly.

"We are very committed to Sam Baker," Smith said. "I think Sam has a long future with us."
-- Mike Smith, Atlanta Falcons Head Coach.

I want to cheer for the Falcons, I really do. It's where I grew up and I love Atlanta but God Bless - Saints fans think they've had it rough? Not. Even. Close.

What's funny is Falcons fans are very divided on the team. In one camp - there's the fanbase that says "Well we've never won this much with back to back winning season, let's stick it out". Then on the other hand there's the group that doesn't like mediocrity and I fall in that camp.

... I thought you guys might appreciate the article so thought I'd share. I fully recognize that this is a Saints board.

Hell - your team is starting to become old Falcons anyway so suck it!

Wow dude. That sucks for you.

I saw a thread on saintslife the other day saying "We've never needed better players. We needed better coaches." WTF? I agree better coaching was needed, but that o-line needs an overhaul. That secondary needs work. Yes, coaching is important, but players sort of matter.

DD,
I sympathize with you. If I lived in Atlanta I'd still be a Saints fan, so I fully understand you wanting to root for the team of your childhood - who wouldn't?
Don't despair, the Falcons aren't exactly a bad team. Lord knows Saints fans have gone through many soap operas and mini-disasters. We may be facing another one (temporarily I hope), so don't give up.
The fleeting thought went though my mind - albeit for a nanosecond - of giving up on the Saints several times, but then I think of walking up the ramp of Tulane Stadium with my Dad, smelling popcorn and cigars, listening to Al Hirt, and 'Jax Beerman heah!', I can't....
Needless to say our division may be one of the strongest if not the strongest in the league this season......

DD, your team has more regular season wins than any other team in the NFC the last...3 years, I think.

Not exactly the Jacksonville Jaguars yet.

This can't be right. Saints had 13 wins last season, 11 (I think?) the year before, and 13 the SB season. I can't see the Falcons having more than that.

I hate mike smith's face so much. You know how you hate some people just because they are rivals? I know I would hate this guy no matter where he coached.

what the frick? They had 9 wins in 2009, 13 in 2010, and 10 in 2011.

Saints had 13 in 2009, 11 in 2010, and 13 in 2011.
