I never see anything on here. Is he not a Chavis style ILB?

Sounds like the only LB we want right now is Beckwith, due to the haul from last year.

Beckwith isn't going to play linebacker at lsu. The offer may be for lb but he won't end up there.

Yeah, he's like 6'3" 240, but with a lot of room to add weight. He's very athletic though. A lot of people think he'll eventually be a DE. I actually think he'll eventually be a DT. He looks similar to Ingram from South Carolina, but could probably add more weight than he did.

He is like 6-2/6-3+ and 240+. That definitely is bigger than a prototypical Chavis MLB.

Name the best LB at LSU under chavis
The Answer it Kelvin Sheppard
He was 6'2" and 250 lbs

Or Jerad Mayo who is 6'1" 245.

He will take a big linebacker as long as he can more. Thats the point.

Arkansas, Ole Miss, Tenn, A&M also has offers from Nebraska and Okie St. according to rivals. I figured he was too big and that's why we haven't offered. I worded my question confusingly.

Some former and current MLB under Chavis:

Al Wilson - 6'0", 240 lbs.
Leonard Little - 6'3", 265 lbs
Kevin Burnett - 6'2", 240 lbs.
Jerod Mayo - 6'1", 245 lbs
Kelvin Sheppard - 6'2", 250 lbs
Kevin Minter - 6'2", 242 lbs

Jones may eventually outgrow the position, but the myth that Chavis likes tiny little LB is just that--a myth. If the kid is fast enough, quick enough and smart enough, he can play LB for Chavis no matter what size he is.

If the kid can move, and play the position he will play LB. Do you think Chavis has a size limit, or a mobility minimum?

I have no idea how the kid can move, I just know he is 4 star LB in state that we haven't offered. I like the idea of having a big kid in the middle with the run offenses we face.

If they didn't have to be smart Chavis could call it Jack LB and bring big, quick guys on in droves.

We are recruiting him, he was invited and attended our junior day.

He is a legit 6'2" to 6'3" barefoot and 240 lbs. Moves very well at that size, and has SEC talent.

yes we are recruiting him but we need a TRUE mlb in this class. neither jones nor claiborne is a 100% mlb. jones will end up on the dline he will outgrow the position. claiborne is similar to peters last year in size and don't think chavis wants a 6'0 mlb. both have the talent for LSU but is either one a true mlb is the question.

Agreed. Everyone thinks Chavis only wants smaller LB'ers because he has moved a few safety type guys to OLB, but that was more in need because of the lack of LB'ers on the roseter. Chavis has been pretty consistent having larger MLB's throughout his career. I think the 'smaller, faster LB' model was mostly out of need to fill those spots and was almost exclusively used for OLB's.

Lionel Turner was over 270 when he got the big sack in the 2004 title game. I'm still amazed that he could play at that level with the weight that he carried.

I believe the reason LSU hasn't offered yet is because there maybe some grade issues. I like the kid. He passes the eye test for sure but I'm concern about his ability to play against punishing backs. I seen him play last year against a power back and get dominated from the first snap when he got trucked. I think he was just surprised by that power and shut it down. My point is that in the SEC there are tons of punishing backs and you can't afford to shut it down after getting run over because it is going to happen.
