All Things Metal

I've always been a fan of heavy metal with it's aggression, intensity and technical musicianship.
I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath (the god-fathers) and other classic rock gods and always loved and appreciated how ahead of their time both bands were. Somewhere around high school I then discovered Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets by Metallica and forever more I was addicted to metal. While Metallica has been one big ball of disappointment since the end of the Black Album I still hold them in high regard as they were my segue into the world of metal.
Bands that rock my world:
Dream Theater
Symphony X
Nevermore
Lamb of God
Arch Enemy
Blind Guardian
Kamelot
Pagan's Mind
Opeth
As you can see I gravitate towards a lot of progressive and symphonic metal bands, but I do often enjoy just straight up heavy at times as well.
Anyways CSB. Let's discuss all things metal!

I am a HUGE fan of the late 1990's early 2000's nu-metal wave(Disturbed, Godsmack, SOAD, Static X, Sevendust, Korn, Dope, etc. etc.) Even though I'll prob. get bashed for it, I'll come out and say that I am most likely the biggest Disturbed fan on this board. I have no idea why they get so much hate around here. They have accomplished more than most bands can say. They are on hiatus right now

Been listening to the shite out of this one the past couple days, love it.

How did you leave out by far the best band and one of the originators of the genre? Deftones, anyone?

Not a Nightwish fan?
I get bored with Nightwish for whatever reason. I don't dislike them, but I never can get hooked on them. I think I tend to get bored by the Operatic female vocals.

I've been meaning to download their new album. Meshuggah always tends to blow my mind with their rhythm changes.

Opeth
How do you feel about Opeth's latest album?
Opeth amazes me in how they change their styles without fear. The last album is hard to even classify as metal. I think I enjoyed their last non-metal album, Damnation, more than their latest.

No, their last one came out last April. I just meant that it was their latest.
