Does Didier at DH mean Katz in CF, Dozar at 1B?

I would imagine this is only against right handers, and when a lefty is out there it will change. I'm looking forward to Didier getting a chance.

Who bats between JaCoby and Katz?

Katz in center field is terrible. Not just because of Sunday. Our outfield has no athleticism if Jones is at 2nd base.

I agree. I'd move Jones back to CF.

I also would like Jones back at CF. I saw Mainieri said earlier in the week that Katz was his most instinctive outfielder. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out tomorrow night and this weekend.

This is exactly what it means.

Mainieri was quoted as saying this in the Reveille today. If He moves Katz to CF he said Dozar would be at 1B with either Foster or Didier in as DH.

He said he really likes the presence of left-handed batters facing RHP and that Didier was taking some good swings in practice.

Edit: as far as who bats 2nd he said he still didn't know, but Jacoby Jones would still bat leadoff

Even without the Sciambra injury, I wonder why Didier hasn't gotten more opportunities. He has 2 extra base hits in his 9 at bats on the season. Hopefully he can do some damage this week

Didn't Didier have a shot at 3B back in 2010?
Try Hanover at 2B,
Jones CF
and Didier at 3B.

I'm thinking foster in center, Katz in right, rhymes in left, and Dozar at first

Yes, and if I remember right he made a lot of errors.

I really want to see what Didier can bring us at DH. The dude probably has more power potential than anyone on the team and God knows we need SOMEONE with HR potential in the lineup right now.

I think I remember that also.
But in my opinion, thats what midweek games are for. Trying different players in different positions. Maybe he's improved?

I like the idea of more left handed bats. I think it could be a small part of the reason the offense is weak.

If we are facing a lefty, Foster could see time in the outfield again. He's been in a slump for a while now, 5 for his last 42 (.119), so if he is showing improvement in practice, he could play a big role going forward

I think Jones still plays a good bit at second base

With the game being mostly a singles game, it might be best to keep the infield intact at the expense of a less athletic outfield.

I like the way Nola and Jones do work up the middle, and Ross has been in the zone lately throwing runners out. If I recall correctly, Mainieri mentioned JaCoby's range at 2nd being an advantage

I agree that Jones is probably our best bet at 2B, but Katz in CF won't do.

I wasn't impressed with Jones when he was playing CF. He looks much more comfortable at 2B. This has to be the worst athletic outfield in recent memory.

Don't think it matters to be honest.

I want them to put the best hitters in the lineup no matter what the defense looks like. The few balls that Katz wouldn't get to will be worth it for getting extra pop in the lineup. I think our pitching has been good enough to keep us in games no matter the outfield.

I'd put Foster in center if for no other reason he has the best arm among him, Katz and Raph.

Nobody is suggesting that Katz should not be in the lineup.

ETA: I think I understand what you are saying now. I still don't like Katz in CF though.
