place in the top 4 of the Dallas NIKE Camp

3. DB Tony Brown, Beaumont (Texas) Ozen (2014)
There is no doubt we will be hearing a lot about the 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back next year. Despite being a year younger than most of the other prospects in attendance, Brown had the best day of any player in the secondary. He was exceptional in drills where he showed he could turn his hips as well as change direction very well. Once it came time for the one-on-ones he was able to make up with quick slot receivers as well as bigger outside guys equally well. He is a name to watch on the national scene next year

4. DB Laurence Jones, Monroe (La.) Neville (2014)
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound sophomore proved that his first-team all-Army Combine performance was no fluke. Despite being built like a linebacker, Jones spent all day playing cornerback. The coaches could not believe he was able to cover as well as he could for his size or the fact that he was only a class of 2014 prospect. In an incredibly talented year in the state of Louisiana next year he has a chance to be the best of the bunch. He could end up at safety or linebacker in college and he will be a plus athlete at either spot.

Would love to see Jones at safety at LSU. I have seem him play in person a few times. Really think he will be special.

I heard talk about him liking Ohio State? Anyone know if this is true. Does he have any connection to the school?

No connection. Just liked them growing up. Home wins out in this one though.

Just a childhood favorite he pulled for. Loves his momma so will be tough for him to leave that far, especially with Diarse in his ear now.

Brown has had LSU as his leader for awhile now and it doesn't hurt that Adam Henry is originally from Beaumont, so hopefully we can use that to our advantage also.

2014 is shaping up to be one hell of a class potentially for us

Fournette or bust

Seriously though. 2014 looks potentially as good as any that lsu has brought in under Miles. One of those cornerstone types of classes that are back bones of title years IMO.

I also have high hopes with 2013. The coaches seem to be on the ball this year.

Recently talked to a big Neville graduate and supporter. I mentioned to him that I heard their awesome junior's favorite was Ohio St, and people are concerned he may go there. He immediately called bullshite, and said there is no way his momma is letting him go that far away. Said he will be going to LSU just like Diarse.

FYI he's been telling me for months that Diarse would commit to LSU.

Talked to a Neville coach, "he's got Buckeyes on the brain".. Im not saying he's going there. I'm saying they will be our competition. I think our recruiting efforts will be to strong in the end for Urban.

if hootie is 210 already, then he will be 220+ when he gets to LSU and will be a do everything lb.

With his athleticism I think he is more likely to be a Chad-Jones-sized safety.

If we perform on the field as expected this year(national title is what I expect and nothing else will suffice), 2014 could be the best class on paper that LSU has ever had. Big time talent in LA and some major talent in Texas that we're already ahead of the curve with. Haven't got into other OOS kids yet. Could be a major, major class. Should be a very good one anyway but the national title run will only make it better. Also have the depth chart opening up big time. Things are setting up very nicely for 2014. It's like it's been planned that way.

Agree about 2014. I would like to see us actually start offering some of these guys.

We've offered or told we will offer quite a few kids for 2014. The major instate kids already have one aside from Jones but his is coming at camp. They'll be offered before it makes a difference.

As for the Jones/OSU thing, Sonny Shipp asked his coach about it because of the rumors and the coached laughed at him and said he's too much of a momma's boy to go that far. Huge difference liking a school that for away and actually facing the reality of going there when the time comes. It's not that easy to do. Ask Gunner Kiel and his family.

Its ashamed that he doesnt already have an offer and others is the state already do as sophomores. I guess it depends on which part of the state that you live in.
