I know I sure as hell would if for no other reason than he is being singled out for a practice done by many others without punishment.

How would the appeal process work in this situation? And does anybody think he would have any chance of having the suspension reduced?

Appeal goes back to the Fidel's office so nothing will change.

He can appeal, but Goodell will be the one ruling. He can sue, you can always sue, but "they should be punished too" is never a great defense.

No but there is a law in Louisiana that Payton could try to exploit to get his $7.5 million dollar salary.

Don't think there is anything he can do to get the next 12 months back.

7.5 million dollars, he won't just sit in the corner and take this. He will go through the motion of appealing to the commish but he will also exhaust any other possible remedy including the courts.

Well since he's not being paid this year, I think he'll be sparring with his money. Legal fees pile up quick, and the NFL is sitting on a mountain of cash.

If I were Payton I'd wait about a week, and let any potential lawsuits that MAY result from this get to the league office. Let the NFL see all the potential litigation they may have to deal with, then appeal the suspension.

If guys like the Williams(2 DT from Minny) can afford to sue the NFL, I'm going to assume SP can as well.

Not saying he will, but I don't lack of money will be a deterrent

This is not out of the question and I would definitely do it. Abuse of discretion.

I'm not saying SP will sue but dont laugh it off so quick. Having someone take away your salary of $7.5 million dollars can cause a man to consider a lot of options.

que?

Why does the NFL decision making process and the standards it uses, have anything to do with whether or not SP will sue?

I'm not saying he will sue or even be succesful. You don't have to have a good chance to win just to file suit though and if the possibility is winning back at least your $7.5 million dollar salary Payton might try it.

I do think there is a small chance he gets it reduced to about 8 games. Or maybe just hoping. 8 games would have been stiff and also send the desired message. Roger goodell has really gone overboard. Instead of punishing those involved he punished everyone in the organization top to bottom, every fan, and anyone who has a vested interest in the saints.

And he also basically barred himself from ever visiting one of the greatest cities in the world again.

I hope that Sean Payton makes Roger goodell's life as miserable as possible.

He deserves it.
