My friend's greatgrandmother with one arm makes the best I've ever had.
Parm
Romano
roasted garlic
breadcrumbs
anchovie paste
parsley
olive oil
lemon juice, and lemon slice over the top while steaming.
Put artichokes in warm water for 30 min to par boil.
Drain, let cool.
Stuff with breadcrumb mixture, steam for 1 hr or 'til tender.
Something to wet your appetite.

Crab boiled shrimp, dried and then pulverized into bits via blender also is good in them. Italian bread crumbs. Good Pecorino too, not that cheap gummy preservative-laden junk out of a Kraft canister.

It's a given.
If you're buying artichokes, ya' have to use fresh cheese.

I almost got an erection reading your recipe. I adore artichokes. When I'm lazy, I just boil them for 40 minutes and eat with melted butter and salt.

Aside from my own, Jack Dempsey's on Poland Ave in NO has some pretty good artichokes.

I stuffed 3 a few weeks ago similar to the recipe above and adding one-half pound crabmeat.
They were awesome.

Long time lurker. I was a big fan of the ones they sold in the old Meme's grocery in Lakeview. That homemade one looks dank as hell though.

Did you grow up on the lakefront?
That's the only way you knew Meme's.
I grew up on Egret, and would hit that place all the time for those.

Yeah, born and raised in Lakeview. Living right across from Mt. Carmel was . I actually got a job at Meme's and was supposed to work my first shift there the weekend of Katrina.

They had some good stuffed 'chokes.
I'm trying to remember if R&O's had one too. I remember the Italian joint on the corner of Lake Ave. in Bucktown had a few different kinds of stuffed 'chokes. Can't remember the name, it burned down a couple of times.
