at least one more year?

quote:

According to sources, Howard told the team of his plans during a meeting in San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon. They said Howard will opt in for the final year of his contract so long as the Magic do not trade him.

If that happens.

Hedo's contract coming off the books after next year, maybe they can get a gm in there to make some decent moves and keep him long term.

There is one solution to all of this.

GET JOSH SMITH THIS OFFSEASON AND GET RID OF HEDO.

Guaranteed Dwight will sign the extension with his best friend on the team. Otis Smith will be gone, so whoever the next GM is needs to get after this.

I'm not a huge fan of Smith's stupid just-inside-the -3-point-line jumpers, but it will keep Dwight in Orlando long term.

I'll take gullible basketball executives for $500 Alex.

This NBA GM received nothing in return for his star player, who has been publically declaring his desire to opt out and sign with a soon to be Brooklyn based team for several months, following a statement from the player 15 hours before the trade deadline.

They better get this in contract form before Orlando gets Boozer'd.

KBergCBS This is the commitment -- in writing -- the Magic apparently need to suspend efforts to trade Howard prior to Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline.

The team has received no such documentation, which would need to be signed by Howard and his agent, Dan Fegan, source says.

Exactly. If his actual option (not this "commitment") isn't signed BEFORE the trade deadline, they would be idiotic to just take his word for it.

Except he can block the hell out of some shots and is athletic as hell. He's so much better than Hedo it's ridiculous.

A Smith/Howard frontcourt would be ridiculous on Defense.

Rumors are that if Dwight does sign the extension that the Nets are looking to trade DWill to the Lakers for Gasol and their 2 first round picks
