Has Alleva said as much that Trent will be back next season? Haven't followed hoops that closely and didn't see anything definitive on TR. TIA.

It's not even being considered to replace him

Alleva said a few weeks ago, Trent could lose out and keep his job, I think once Trent got past 2 conference wins he could pass it off as progress.

I haven't been an alleva critic like others, but the rope he's given Trent is ridiculous

Next year is the make or break year.

TJ has to get this team into the NCAA and be a contender for the top 3-4 spots in the SEC or he is gone, IMO.

As I noted in the OP I haven't followed our season game-by-game, but now that the season has played out how can Joe justify retaining Trent? IMO, to do communicates an incredibly (and unacceptably) low expectation of "success" in our basketball team.

I have no axe to grind or preconceived dislike with TJ. It's just that he's had time and hasn't gotten the job done.

I say we give SouthofSouth an interview. It seems as though he did more pre-game analysis than the staff. Motivating the players wouldn't necessarily be an issue for him as he had LSU winning every game.

Nobody has low expectations for the LSU basketball program. There are realistic ones though.

Next seasons are higher than this years based on our improvement this season. Not that hard to grasp.

Sure there were some bright spots. The problem for me was the mental regression and lack of consistency. Hopefully the young players will mature and that problem works itself out. I can't say it all falls on the staff, but certainly they are to be held accountable for the finished product.

The expectations for LSU basketball on this board is hilarious. A good example to prove how ridiculous these statements are is the Kentucky SEC Tourney game that was in New Orleans. It looked like a damn Kentucky home game, really sad that I couldn't even see ONE LSU fan on the tv screen. Stop using the same mindset as the football program to measure LSU basketball. LSU is not Kentucky, UNC, Syracuse, Duke etc. may not be for awhile. I bet people would be less upset if LSU never even played Oregon last night and just ended the season after the SEC Tourney.

I recall most ranters saying at the beginning of the season that a NIT berth was the expectation this season. Now, many did not forsee the SEC's success against the power conferences like we did. That said, before the late season 3-game losing streak is the only time period that most LSU fans had any dream of the NCAA.

If this was 2008, lsu wouldn't have even sniffed the NCAA at any point.

Ok, maybe we need to adjust our position a little. If Joe retains TR then this communicates an incredibly small (and unacceptable) increment for improvement.

Now that the season has played out TR needs to go. That's a realistic expectation. Either get the job done or be gone.

I'm all about coaches getting 5 years. So TJ has one year to make some noise. Hopefully he does but if not LSU needs to cough up the money for a big time coach.

Please explain to me why you would fire a coach after increasing our win total so much from one year to the next? Why not give him next year to continue that progress, especially with an entire starting 5 returning?

Not saying anyone is happy with our overall record this year, but you can't look at things with such a narrow view. Look at the direction of the program.

Seriously. 10 seasons of up and down instability.
