Does every vine produce? Or do some vines just grow and grow but bare no veggies?

Every vine I've seen has produced, but I cannot say I've seen that many. My dad did not grow them long.

Every vine should produce. They are pretty hard to get a vine started for some reason, I am experienced gardener and grow a huge garden selling my vegetables at local stores and farmers market but I have a hard time getting my mirliton vines to make the year. They start good and die must be the location. But I love eating the ones my uncle grows
