Are we too naive to think that LSU doesn't do bounties/rewards? Or any other schools in the SEC? Thoughts?

every defense is trying to take out the starting QB.

RJF admitted as much when we were playing tebow.

Yes but... Do you it's common in college football for coaches, boosters, and/or teammates to REWARD a player for doing so? With money or certain items like clothes, movie tickets etc... I think it happens more than fans think

I don't see the huge deal. Coaches have given out "rewards" for big hits for years.

What do you think originated helmet stickers like...

I know LSU does give recognition for big hits and even some pancake blocks but I do not for one second believe they are trying to hurt anyone.

Only explanation for not playing Lee...Miles wanted that bounty.

No I don't think it's common, if a school got caught doing this they would be suspended from bowls for multiple years, and the coach would probably be banned.
Not worth it

This.

This isn't the NFL where players are already getting paid. (lets save that arguement for later). Let's all just go with the philosophy that these are not professional atheletes in college. So you are suggesting that not only are coaches/boosters/football programs paying their atheletes, they are paying them specific amounts for big hits or injuries to other players...I think not.

Now if you are asking me if players get on the field and target a specific player and try to hit them hard enough to injure them, then yes I think so. But they are doing that for a multitude of reasons: he ran his mouth earlier that week, he has a history of putting up big plays, he has an already nagging injury, he fricked someone's sister/girlfriend.

If they weren't trying to hurt each other then they would not hit each other with the power that they do.

From talking to a recent former player, they do have "targets" each week, though no money is involved. Also, its not always to directly injure, it may be to knock a specific player off his feet.

I would be surprised if there aren't a few boosters every year that slip a player some cash and tell him to take out someone.

Pretty sure it came out that Miami had bounties galore on Tim Tebow... and they still couldn't take down the chosen one.

ETA: Actually he laughed when he was told about it.

BTW he threw for 256yds and 2 TD's

This is just what LSU needs right now. A thread starting speculation about LSU having bounties. What a dumb arse! GTFO

No bounties but Orange Slices after basketball victories.
