I will be purchasing a bay boat at the end of this year. I have been looking at numerous boats. Still can't decide. I would be fishing out of Burns Point and the Grand Isle Area. Would like something with a shallow draft but still could handle decent weather. This would be my first bay boat so I don't need anything crazy. I may buy new or used. Not sure yet. Just wanted to get some opinions.

Go used more boat for the bang.

Ranger,Pathfinder, Pioneer.A Bluewave would be lighter on the wallet and as said above a older Kenner is a good boat.

What is the price range for one of these? I have heard some really good things about them.

I heard Haynie boats are pretty nice too. They are made for running around the gulf. From what I hear anyway.

A used BlackJack will be at 30-35 for a 2006-2008 22'. A little pricey but you keep iy 4 yrs and probably sell it for what you paid. They hold the value.

Also Chaos is a good used boat. It was picked up by Pioneer.

The Bluewave's look nice. Kenner is pretty much the same as Mako, right?

and just in case you dont know bill kenner owns blackjack or K2 marine as they are called now....
Is it coincidence that older Kenner boats are better....
there is a blue wave dealer in bay saint louis, looked at them the other day for the first time up close, not a bad looking boat.

Skeeter is a good boat. I have a few friends that own skeeters.

My dad is likely getting a blazer bay when he decides to get one.

Yea, I rarely see pathfinders, shearwaters, blackjacks, etc behind hauled down the highway. More often than not its blazer bay, Xpress, skeeter, ranger, triton, mako, something like that. I've been seeing more blue waves in recent years though, I like them.

I did not know skeeter was lower priced, I have only seen one up close and never fished on it. I have never been on a Blazer Bay.

I have only mentioned boats I have fished on enough to give good opinions on that were in his budget.

I'm sure there are plenty of regional manufacturers there that I have never heard of like there are here in Fl.

a kayak perhaps?

really though, i like blue waves. I think if i was buying a boat new, that's what I'd buy (i mean if i was slummin it OT style. you know, i could afford a new sheerwater but i don't want to embarrass anyone)...
