Has anyone tried Horinoya on Poydras or Rock-n-Sake in the warehouse district?

Any other recommendations are appreciated. TIA

Hoshun on St. Charles isn't bad and it puts you fairly close to the Arena.

ETA: I've only been there for lunch so I don't know if it's different for dinner.

If you are a sushi snob or want to be closer to arena, then go to Horinoya. It isn't exactly cheap. If you are more of a roll guy, go to Rock n Sake or Geisha (corner of Tchoup and Canal).

Sushi Brothers right across the street is better

Horinoya and Geisha are both solid choices

Horinoya on Poydras prob has the best quality fish in town. Their sushi is great. They don't have a ton of the larger rolls w/ a bunch of toppings but the quality is great.

Good to know. I'll have to try it next time I've craving sushi.

Good to know thanks!

The lady and I have been attempting to eat at new restaurants each time we dine out. We've eaten at Hoshun, Sushi Bros (was great), and pretty much everything uptown of that.

I like raw sushi and the gf prefers rolls but neither one of us are picky. If Horinoya's a little pricey then it looks like it's between Rock-n-Sake and Geisha.

Tried Origami on Freret yet? Interested to hear some people's thoughts.

Rock n Sake is loud but fun atmosphere which would work considering you are going to a Hornet's game. Sometimes they can get really busy so allot a little extra time if you go on a Friday or Saturday night.

No, that's the only one uptown we've yet to try. I spent a lot of drunken nights there in high school when it was Tucks and even though I know it was gutted and looks like a very nice place, after witnessing some of the things that happened, I'm still having trouble with the idea of eating anything that came from that building.

As an aside, my buddy and I used to go there quite often and play pool and weren't too shabby. One time we ended up playing and getting our asses kicked by a team of a 200lbs+ white girl and a black midget, the later of which then schooled me in a dance off after I had a few too many drinks. Oh, to be 18 again....

And I know we're a little more dignified that the OT but I'll go ahead and throw a :CSB: for shits and giggles

Sounds like that's right up our alley, I think that's where we'll end up. Thanks everyone for all the help!

Rock n Sake has some great off the menu rolls, but the service can be iffy and its pretty crowded, if youre in a rush
