I'm anxious to see how big the guys are that play. I saw some clips of the Japan league once and one team had this WR that just looked huge and was faster and stronger than everyone else on the field. I looked at the roster for the team he played for and he was like 6'1" 180 and towered over everyone else.

I couldn't find much on rosters or players but I saw a few pictures on the website with the caption "Are India's Athletes Big Enough For American Football? You Decide!"

There was one giant and the other two or three guys pictured were unimpressive for an advertisement of how "big" these guys are

I'm gonna watch just to see if they can fit some of those names on the back of their jerseys.

From this article:

Scheer has great ambitions for the Indian league, claiming it could expand to 45 teams over the next few years.

"I envision that in three years, the EFL will be bigger [in India] than the NFL [is in the United States]," Scheer told reporters.

With a more than a billion people they probably could have 45 teams. They wont be equipped as well or paid as much. Three years is a bit unrealistic. Maybe they'll have relegation?

Japan

I played football against a Japanese college team. They were legit and could hang with a decent US I-AA team. They weren't tall, but they could play.

There is at least one college in Japan that has been playing American football for over 60 years.

Only way a league could work. India and China are sleeping giants when it comes to sports. Soccer and Formula 1 have made strides in those areas.

I'm interested to see if this experience will work. The biggest obstacle will be explaining the rules to the populace. In my experience in India, it will be very difficult. Not only that, cricket will always be king. The new twenty20 league is gigantic over there. Not to mention the English Premier League, which is followed by lots of people.

I know a guy who played for some team over in Japan. He played LB and was a helluva athlete. Told me the only thing holding them back was size.

I'd be attracted to this if they separate the teams into a Hindu Conference and a Muslim Conference.

I think the real problem is: how are we going to form our best American team to play their best team?

Think about all the talent that could be left out...

I guess Troy Aikman was right when he said the NFL was going to decline in popularity.

I saw a few games of the IFAF World Championship of American football and a good John Curtis team could have beat some of these teams like Australia. It was just laughable. Mexico and Japan were actually decent, but would not be considered talented by any means in America on any level but d-3 football really.

Edit: In case you wanted to read about it more LINK

I recognized one name on both of those American rosters. That was hawkins from Colorado and he wasn't very good. I guess a college all star team would be unfair.

i'm not worried... send Chalmette over there and we'd be .500.
