Sorry if already posted, but cbssports.com has a great feature where you can compare the tourney resume on any two college basketball teams. It helps show the reason why a team like Texas or NC State is "on the bubble", while LSU isn't. Simply put, LSU's non-conf RPI is not very good (104).

Nevertheless, the website is updated daily and gives the clearest picture IMO of a team's chances to make the tourney. Personally, I like to compare the "last four in/out" teams with LSU so I can get a look at where we might stand.

NC State barely has a better resume than LSU, using that website.

LSU's strength of schedule is ranked #49, and its RPI is #63.

NC State's strength of schedule is #42, and its RPI is #58.

LSU has 2 wins vs. the top 50, and 2 bad losses.
NC State has 1 win vs. the top 50, and 2 bad losses.

Both teams are middle of the pack in their conference.

If we just win those games ...

I agree. Which means as of today LSU "could" be moving closer to one of the "play-in game" spots. The difference between NC State and LSU is their non-conf SOS and RPI:

LSU: SOS: 205 RPI: 104
NC St: SOS: 30 RPI: 47

LSU's relatively weak non-conf schedule and those two bad loses to S.Ala. and CC are looming very large right now.

Exactly what will keep them out of the dance. Especially that non-conference SOS, the committee likes to see teams challenge itself in the non-conference.

Hmm...who would have known that the "EVERY GAME COUNTS" was for basketball this year?
Oh, the irony.

The committee also supposedly puts special weight on how you finish over how you start. That could especially help a team like LSU if the committee recognizes that we have relied heavily on freshmen and a transfer, and are definitely not the same team we were in November.

The better comparison is LSU and Arizona. Most people, including Lunardi have the Wildcats in and don't have LSU even on the bubble.

Another interesting comparison is LSU and Miss. St.

After not seeing LSU mentioned at all, I have started seeing and hearing analysts throwing LSU into the mix today. Most say LSU is on the bad side of the bubble and has work to do, but that is better than not being mentioned at all just a few days ago.

Dan Wolken of The Daily said LSU was among 30 teams fighting for 19 bids.

I thought this was pretty much a given at the moment, but hey 4 wins could easily change that (with 5 or 6 almost certainly doing so).

If we win out, we WILL be on the good side of the bubble entering the SEC Tournament.

Things would get VERY interesting at that point.

yeah, LSU is definitely not on the bubble yet. But, could play their way into position. Winning out puts LSU legitimately on the bubble heading into the SECT, imo.

This number will shrink when teams start winning conference tournaments that aren't suppose to like if Murray St. doesn't win

This year's bubble is the softest it's been in a long time. If a team get hot down the stretch and wins out, they'll be in the tournament. If LSU wins out and gets a victory over a Florida, or God forbid somehow they beat Kentucky, they'll be a lock for a 10-12 seed.

neither one is in, if the seeding were done today.

LSU has a chance to finish on a roll. If they do, they will get in.

if they dont, they can win a couple in the NIT before they have to play a road game.

I heard ESPN refer to Northwestern as a bubble team today. You may recall they defeated LSU on a neutral court by six points. The Tigers compare favorably to them aside from the NCRPI and NCSOS. No doubt, the Tigers are currently rueing those two bad losses in November.
