Lab, probably 35 lbs now, also live in a neighborhood, do they make training collars with a bark collar built in?

Tried using a shock collar on my lab when he was prolly 8 months. Problem was it was broken and only worked on 1,2, and 9. He didnt even feel 1 and 2, and 9 scared the piss out of him. I got tired of cleaning up dog piss so I gave it back to my dad. Just used the knock him in the head method and I couldnt ask him to be any better.

I used a bark collar on him because I used to live in an apt. It worked pretty well and he stopped barking at everything that went past the door. He figured it out in about a week.

I've got the sportdog 400 wetland hunter. Got it at academy. It has been a life saver with my catahoula. It's realtree Camo and water proof to 25 ft.

CDCS(cool dog collar story)

My wife had a collie when we first got married. It barked all the time at night. She purchased a no bark collar and decided to figure out how it worked. She placed it on her neck and barked.

The marks on her neck took a year to go away.

I like tri-tronics. Been having my shock collar for 13 years and it still works like new after using it tons of times in Venice(at times lots of saltwater in river). THe only thing I had done to it was to change the rechargeable batteries which I did myself.

If you are going to be out hunting, at trials or have the dog out and about a lot without a leash you will have different requirements than someone with a lab in an apartment...

ETA - I am a firm believer in having a collar that will apply the needed correction amount, either soft or hard, everytime the first time. Tritronics and Dogtra make such a collar

Better know what the hell you're doing. You can ruin a good dog with one of those things. I hate 'em.

if it is behavior modification only you can train a dog to stop barking

Consider a professional trainer

Not knowing how to train without a collar, will not make you be able to train with one.

Bark collars are different.
