I'm in Shreveport for the weekend and looking for some decent boiled crawfish.

Needs suggestions for what places around town does it right...

TIA

I don't mind Crawfish Tyme, on 70th St.

Passed by there last night, which actually sparked my thinking and led to this thread...

Mr. Shaver is a class act, and that man can boil a crawfish. Always good when I get his.

Shane's is another option is Shaver's is out.

I drove by Crawfish Tyme during the day a week or so ago and it didn't look open, but they may have just been out of bugs.

Are you eating in, or picking up?

If eating in, Crawdaddy's (in Mansfield, but not far) is the way to go

If picking up, I prefer Crawfish Tyme (though going after dark can be sketchy) - Shaver's is a close #2.

Stay away from Savoie's and Shane's.

I second Crawdaddy's Kitchen on Mansfield Road. It is probably the best dine-in option in the city limits. I like Crawfish Tyme a little more, but it is pick-up only. Shaver's isn't bad, but I like the other two more.

If you don't mind driving a little, Crawfish Hole #2 in Dixie Inn is head and shoulders better than anything in Shreveport-Bossier. It's about a 30 minute drive down I-20.

gross they are the ones that give the NLA stereotype that people put the seasoning on the outside of the crawfish after the boil.

Last time I picked up Shaver's I paid attention, and they asked me if I wanted seasoning sprinkled on. I told them "a little" and they gave me just enough to add a little extra heat and they weren't messy. I thought they were great, but if you don't want any on the outside, then you can tell them that.

The wife brought me here the first time I ever ate crawfish in Shreveport (where shes from). Best I've ever had North of I10.

I'm picking up and need something close to the South Highlands area. I'm gonna call Crawfish Tyme and Shaver's. I can't stand that seasoning on the outisde style of boiling, but I guess I'll have to take what I can get tonight.

I've never been to Crawfish Hole #2 (is it close to Minden?), but have only heard great things - I plan on going this season. I'll wait at least another 30-45 days though.
