Not all that bad, their stats are very similar.
I wouldn't be surprised to see JJ in the running for Comeback Player of the Year or Most Improved or whatever the award is...

Jarrett Jack
16.6 PPG
7.4 APG
4.3 RPG
16 games played, 38.2 mpg

Chris Paul
18.0 PPG
8.4 APG
3.0 RPG
9 games played, 37.3 mpg

Definitely the team MVP so far.

Which is why, unless there is a high promise PG in the draft, I don't think we need to be looking at points and combo guards.

Look beyond simple stats. There is a massive dropoff. This same team with CP probably has 7-9 wins right now.

Because CP3 is on another level, no one is debating that. But that doesn't mean these losses are JJ's fault. He's alright, focus on fixing the rest of the team.

People keep saying JJ isn't in our future plans. They may be right but I can easily see us holding onto him for a little while. He's holding his own out there and we have many other needs to address before we worry about point guard.

I like JJ off the bench with a more floor general type PG. JJ is more of your scoring breed PG and I think has too many same characteristics as Gordon.

Yeah, point guard is more than the numbers. Being a good point guard has a lot to do with setting the pace on offense. When the team is in a funk on offense and all sporadic, the point guard is suppose to slow it down and get them into a play/set that can get them an easy bucket. I do understand that we have no guy that we can really just dump the ball off to to get that bucket, but we also don't get the best looks going to the basket. Jack has great numbers, but he's not the floor general Paul was by a WIDE margin. That's not a knock on Jack, it's just Paul was just ridiculously good.

Also, we didn't really give up anything to get him...

Jack was traded to the New Orleans Hornets, along with Marcus Banks and David Andersen for Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless
per wikipedia.com

so we got a PG who has put the team on his back this year, and two shitty guys (one of which has an awesome youtube video) and gave up a huge contract of a player that was washed up and a young combo guard who we obviously were disappointed in.

good lookin' out, Dell.

and personally, I think Jarrett Jack would be twice as good if he'd only open his damn eyes.

This team doesn't need a floor general. Next year Jack's main job will be to bring the ball up the court, hand it off to Gordon, then spot up for a jumper as Gordon and our rookie PF run the Pick and Roll.

True. But that's not what we need this year. And he's still no CP3.

He as been great. Once EG is back and healthy that will be a great backcourt.

Jack has talent no doubt. But there are just times he tries to take over or do everything himself and it doesn't happen. With the right coaching he could be a good system PG (like a D. Fisher). There just has to be alot more talent around him. But it's not close in-between him and Paul. You have to look beyond the numbers..

Jarrett Jack is playing a lot better than I was expecting, but stats don't tell the entire story. Chris Paul is much better than his stats indicated.

I like what Jack is doing. It's his first year running the team... He's doing pretty damn good, but I think he will be yards better running it next year.

So CP is ahead on every stat that's been posted except RPG (5/6 stats). Plus the hornets would most likely be above .500 as opposed to 3-14. I'd say the drop off is quite significant. But it's to be expected. CP3 is the best PG in the game and JJ is a decent combo guard forced to play PG because of his size. We all know JJ can score, but he simply lacks the pure PG instincts. Hard to put a number on that though.

CP3 had Bayless and then Jack playing behind him as the #2 point for the first 20 games of last season.

Jack has Vasquez playing behind him. Now THAT is a massive drop off.

Can't really argue with that.
