I do not follow all sports, so others here add info, what is our "worst" sport-by this I mean, where do we never compete to win sec AND never have in say past 25 years.I know we cant be good in all sports, but where do we never even win SEC?

What I know, we had 2 NC players in golf last year which is GREAT but when did we last win SEC BB 09, FB 11, WB 08, BB 10 etc...

Football, MB and WB have all won SEC multiple times been to final fours and NC etc, BB and Track- among best if not best in country past 25 years, SB- has not been around for 25, won sec a few times and generally in fight for sec champ
Tennis- Overall middle of pack SEC, but terrible facilities, I think won a few secs in 90's Gym- SEC only has 6 teams, think we are lower part of sec, Swimming and Diving? same as GYM? Cross Country, Volleyball, Golf? (I think vb wins west, but ever win SEC?

I don't know about the entire gymnasts team, but several of the girls in the past 10 years at least have been nationally ranked. Look up April Burkholder (sp?)

Two words, one sport: Cross Country

Cross country is a completely different sport than track.

I lived with a former LSU cross counrty runner, and have a cousin that use to run cross country for LSU. They will tell you that the team is terrible. The state of Louisiana generally has the weakest high school cross country runners, and those weak runners eventually go to LSU.

Gymnastics by far for women's sports. We've been surpassed by programs who are less than 10 years old while we've been established for 30 years. We have had individual national champions, but team wise have done nothing. I think 1 SEC championship in the early 80s.

Men's sports, I would say swimming or tennis. Haven't really been competitive in the conference or nationally.

For LSU to be competive in Tennis ans Swimming it's going to take some $$$ for facilities. That is the main reason LSU is so far behind.

well said, but not a total excuse, from a pure numbers point of view, I have to agree gym is pretty bad, given there are only 6 teams in sec and we have not won title in 25+ years. so for women I say gym...men is a tough call, am not familar with cross country...our tennis cts and swim are embarrasing, but I think are going to be upgraded,,,not sure

The nat is a pretty poor facility. This is true. I swam throughout high school in the northeast and have seen plenty of college natatoriums. When I visited LSU and decided to enroll I also visited the nat and spoke with the coaches about walking on. Wasn't impressed with the facility. However that is not the reason I chose not to swim at LSU. In fact it had nothing to do with it...I wanted to party and swimming would have gotten in the way. I am now trying to get back in shape from all that partying and not swimming...

Good luck...as one that enjoyed partying more than swim, rowing, and track. Once you derail, its hard to get back into top form.

LSU's nat hosted NCAAs when it was first built in 1980. It was actually state of the art at the time. No changes at all have come its way since. The Men's Swim team have not won the SEC title since 1987 and are constantly in the fifth-sixth range each year.

Not sure on tennis.
