CFN just cranked up their regular off-season mail column, and the first two questions are about the game. One fan asks if Bama was really that good, and the second asks about putting Lee into the game. We've hashed over both questions plenty on the Rant, but I thought some might be interested in getting yet another outsider's perspective. Here's the link:

yeah that got that one right.

I am just always going to be curious if we had game planned better or if lee had a chance would we have came back.

Every forgets that TR touchdown came with 6 minutes left. We keep them out of the end zone for 7 qtrs of play.

If we had Auburns offense we win that game.

THE TIDE DEFENSE WAS THE BEST EVER!!! Trent Richardson is better than most pro running backs and the line is full of NFL players. This team is like a pro team and was better than many of the bad NFL teams.

Tide would’ve won six games at least in the NFL this year.

Wow. Sadly, this idiot is probably not the only one out there with such laughable views.

Pete is a decent hack who at least tries to stay objective. I think his article is spot on. The Tide planned and delivered their A game and the Tigers did not. LSU will be favored in BR next season and I expect they will deliver a quality performance but if they don't and 'Bama does, the Tide will win again.

I think their defense could do ok against NFL teams. But I think their offense wouldn't be able to do anything.

OR, he could've redeemed himself after that first performance. Didn't he lead the Tigers in many a comeback throughout his career? Anything is possible. Who knows...Downing could be home managing his employees at the Hibbett right now had "the tide turned" with Jarrett Lee (pun intended).

CFN is the same site that ranks Georgia in the top 5 annually.

Q: With the way the Alabama defense destroyed LSU, how cold would it stop the Indianapolis Colts? Dan Orlovsky? I take the Tide.

at anyone that actually thinks a college team would even come close to winning a game against any NFL team.

they would give up 50+ points, every single game against the worst NFL team.

Think about PP this year and how he got fricking torched for half the year.

Now picture a team full of DBs who aren't even as good as him, watching Reggie Wayne fly by and around them. Their lines would get absolutely throttled, like in a way that would probably astound us. Size, strength, and most importantly know how and skill. It would be a disaster.

Dan Orlovsky is still 55x better than JJ (and probably more) and he's as bad is it gets in the NFL. He would have all day to throw and receivers running around free as birds. Not to mention Donald Brown and Addai would have running lanes the that looked like empty freeways.

People who say that a college team could even mildly stay competitive against an NFL team are terrible at critical thinking.

I do not recall who originally said this but...

No team, regardless how dominate the victory, is really that good, and no team, regardless of how humiliating the defeat, is that bad...

Back in the 60's they used to play a pro team against (if I remember correctly...) college all stars... It did not take long to drop that.

In the 20s, 30s, and 40s the best college teams probably could have beaten the pros. Much different time and game.

Any college team would get the doors blown off it.

nowadays it would be even worse I think.

College to the NFL is just a different universe. So many people think they're watching the same thing (dumb people)
