I thought JJ played well "most" of the year

Well at least for him anyway. It seemed like he worked hard in the off season after a relatively strong finish last year (read Bama, Ole Miss, A&M games). The suspension seemed to make him even better. When he came in relief for Lee up to and through the Bama game, JJ played his role quite well. He had no turnovers to my knowledge until the Arky game, ran the option and read's better than he ever has, and threw the ball relatively well. I think he felt like he had something to prove. When Lee and JJ were both playing for those ~4 games, LSU was at its very best imo. JJ was never a liability, but a huge asset to the offense.
Unfortunately, the benching of Lee brought out the worst in JJ imo. He no longer played with a chip on his shoulder and got progressively worse as the season went on. He (and the offense) reverted back to the Crowton offense. It al culminated with whatever that NC game was. Was it just me, or was he pitching the ball on the option with the defender 3 yards away?
The worst thing is that Lee and JJ together at their best may have been a great QB for this team (and for a while they were). I am as pro-Miles as they get, but will never understand why we abandoned a system that worked beautifully from Kentucky through Auburn (40+ ppg), to become one-dimensional. I, like most Tiger fans, are happy the Lee/JJ saga is over.

Yeah, agreed, he was good in that Oregon and West Virginia game

I really saw that improvement that Miles raved about in the off season.

Look at the defenses he looked good against. Bama- no turnovers but no scoring. Plus we had the advantage of catching them by surprise. WKU, Ole Miss, Arky- no good defense there. UGA- good defense, bad performance. Then the NCG.... he didn't have a good game against any good defenses. We will never know if Lee could have had his night of redemption.....

Look up the pass defense rankings for Ole Miss and A&M. Alabama 2010 and BAMA-01-2011 are two anomolies, which fed the false hope.

I thought he looked improved till Georgia. Then he looked like a freshman again.

Yep. Miles' infatuation with JJ's "skillset" still baffles me.

Who is this Lee and JJ you speak of?

The problem with JJ is his "gimmick" (or whatever you want to call it) plays never worked well for sustained drives. They were usually good for moving the ball between the 30s or picking up a a quick first down or punching it in at the goal line.
Lee was so much better as an offense that could drive the length of field. I always thought JJ was better in the role he played mid-season. But even then I didn't like JJ getting how own series - it worked best when they played the same series.

He didn't even play most of the year...

Because he didn't play most of the year.

I agree. He was back to his normal self. Holding on to the ball too long, waiting for receivers to get to a spot and then throw it, not anticipating them being at a spot.
At least he didn't drop back 15 yards before he threw it like he used to.

He played in more than 50% of the games.
He looked good imo Kentucky through Auburn, looked okay Bama through Arkansas, and looked like 2009 JJ against UGA and Bama. But again, I think it was relief role where he excelled

Did you not notice the difference in how much more efficient the offense was under Lee? Less confusion, wasted time outs and penalties.Much more production from the RB's and WR's.The entire offense suffered under JJ.

Did you bother to read my post? I think I stated the offense was most efficient Kentucky through Auburn when Lee started.

You mean like actually going no huddle and gassing a defense...in the first half?

I thought JJ played about the same his entire LSU career with little to no progression... he had his games i.e. Chickfila Bowl and Cotton Bowl but those were abnormal
