First, Bama's coaches trusted their QB to efficiently and effectively run a pass oriented offense. McCarron went 23/34, 234 yds, 6.9 yds/att, 0/0. LSU's coaches only trusted JJ to run the ball and throw short passes that Bama jumped all over. JJ went 11/17, 53 yds, 3.1 yds/att, 0/1. Which all leads to the second point.

Second, Bama's offensive gameplan surprised us and was pretty effective at moving the ball. Looked a lot like WVU. Short-intermediate passes set up by good pass protection and picks/crossing routes by the receivers. LSU's offensive gameplan...well I really can't figure out if we were a power run team, a zone-read run team, a short passing team, or an option team. It definitely was not a pass oriented offense. We had no identity on offense and everyone played confused. Which leads to number 3.

Third, say what you want about JJ vs JL, but with JJ at the helm it seems the offense is always in disarray, scrambling to get the ball snapped prior to a delay of game, and actually getting false starts and delay of game penalties.

Fourth, Bama beat us at our own game: special teams. Their kickoff and punt return coverage was outstanding. And their kicker was 5/6 with the only miss being a good block by Brockers. Wing had a great kick on his first punt, but after that he struggled most of the night (maybe his leg was getting tired?).

Fifth, we still had a great season and I'm still proud of my LSU Tigers Football team. I still think Les Miles is a great coach, even though I was ready to choke him last night. I still think we'll have a great 2012 season. And with that I say Geaux Tigers!

1.
Brad Wing had a great nigh punting. He was our MVP.

2.
It didn't matter if JJ or JL was taking snaps we can't win with that play calling/ game plan Les Miles needs to let the OC earn their money.

According to the yds/att, you are correct. However, it wasn't our typical dominance in the punt game. We gave up a 35+ yard return to Maze which possibly could have gone for a TD if he wouldn't have pulled his hammy. Some other punts may have had distance, but they were low line drives which allowed returns. Not trying to trash BW38, because he was awesome this year and I expect him to be even better next year. I was more pointing at the team effort on punting.

Don't you get it? When playing a qb that can't/won't throw the ball, (JJ), we're very, very limited on what we can do. Bottom line. Bring on METT.

I haven't been a big fan of JJ. But, to quote Dandy Don this morning, "Alabama's defensive line certainly got the best of LSU's offensive line and the Tigers were never able to get anything going offensively. LSU's power running game that had worked so brilliantly throughout the year was virtually non-existent, and Alabama's pass rush rendered Jefferson's passing game completely ineffective. It appeared that LSU was banking on being able to run the option with success, and when that too proved unsuccessful, LSU had no other answer."

I have yet to see someone call out the O-line this morning. They certainly didn't get it done.

You are 100% correct, the O-line was whipped last night. But I think a lot of that stems from my point about struggling to get the ball snapped before getting a delay of game penalty. Because of the last second rush, there's no way for JJ to alternate the snap count or try to pull Bama offside with a long/hard count. Basically, the Bama D-line was able to fly off the ball because they knew the ball either had to get snapped or a delay of game penalty was coming. This puts the O-line at a severe disadvantage. Also, we could have rolled the pocket more or tried some misdirection plays.

The O-line struggled, but I can't believe that it should all be on them...especially as well as they have played the rest of the season.
