Stupid to go to NOLA?

I have Monday and Tuesday off if I want them. I don't have tickets to the game. I would basically be driving 9 hours or so to hang out with friends and be in the Quarter.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get too wasted on Monday night because I have a meeting back home (9 hours away) in the p.m.

Am I stupid for wanting to stay home and just get shitfaced on Monday night (while taking advantage of the Tuesday off of course) and hang out with local friends?

disclaimer: I went to the last BCSCG, so I have that experience...

That's a long trip without a ticket.

Only way I would go without a ticket is if I was within a few hours.

It is a long drive for you but if I was having second thoughts.... I'd go.

I was there in '03 and '07 and I will be there for this one. I leave tomorrow for New Orleans.

But you have to pay for gas, food, do you have a place to stay, etc..... I really don't know what to tell you.

NO

expectations of 100,000 + outside the dome for the game, you can join the crowd, it should be worth the effort

What happened to you man...You used to be cool.
The Tigers are playing Ala-freakin-Bama for the National Title. Everyone's gonna be there. This is the moment...a once in a lifetime moment...where we finally garner the respect we deserve from ALL those motherscratchers. It's time to man up!

Id stay home. Went to seccg game with ticket and drive back was hell. Gas is expensive and with emotions running and a lil alcohol, you will stay out later than you intended to.

You should have checked plane tickets, prob wouldnt be that much more than one person paying for gas. If you have people coming with splitting gas and driving hungover back in shifts is the way to go.

I like it.

That's why I posted my disclaimer...if I had never been, I would pay well over a grand to go. But I attended every game of '07 except for Kentucky. I have been to every bowl since the Sugar of the '06 season...went to all but one of those as well.

I guess having 'been there, done that', I am leaning towards staying in.

Don't go, bro...that is too far...5 hours, maybe 6 without a ticket is questionable, but 9 hours each way with a meeting awaiting you upon return, no way. Kick your feet back and enjoy at home.

...and then blow whatever gas money I was going to spend on booze, championship merch, etc.

Just go. Now, do it and don't look back. In fact, leave Sunday and sleep in your car at the Butte LaRose area. Take it all in. Then get up, puke (you ate at Mulates remember?) and drive to the city that Care Forgot. Or was it, FEMA? Anyway, go, and go strong. You may only see a 14-0 season once in your life time...

If you don't mind the drive--DO IT.

LOADS OF FREAKIN' FUN!

And I'm an "older" dude with kids. Wouldn't miss it.

I'm driving 12hrs from Missouri without tickets, did it for the LSU vs OU game and had a blast. I'm coming down with 3 other people. We're leaving Tomm night at about 10pm.

If I had friends down here with LSU ties who wanted to go, it would be a no-brainer. As it stands, I would have to do this solo...much less fun.
