OK. I know this is redundant and means nothing to anyone other than me, but I must say it. Les is a recruiting genius.
Saban starting pulling in top recruits, but what he did is nothing compared to Miles.
Miles takes two star players and makes them Heisman Trophy candidates. Miles nails down top national recruits.
I remember when Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida State, Florida, Alabama, etc. were getting all the good recruits and LSU was getting players who chose us "over all other Louisiana colleges."
Enjoy Miles and LSU football while you can all of you young whippersnappers. I went through the lean years. Some of you don't know how good this is.

Truth. I love the way he manufactured an academics issue for Lee so that Kiel's parents, who are quite obviously very concerned with academics, feel comfortable that Les don't frick around when it comes to grades and dispatch their elite QB spawn southward.

I suppose you are referring to HB7 as a 2 star. He was a 4* on Rivals. If I recall Saban did have a #1 recruiting class at LSU. Miles hasn't done that yet so I don't think you can call Saban's efforts there nothing. And Bama has been #1 recruiting 3 of last 4 years. Just about every school except LSU has to compete with another major program in their own state. I wouldn't call Les a recruiting genius.

but you hear analyst after analyst saying that LSU's strength is its depth... how do you get that depth? deep recruiting classes.
Our average recruiting level in the last 5 years is behind Bama's and Saban doesn't have the luxury of depth that LSU has.
What does that tell me? Miles is the best talent evaluator in the business. If he's recruiting you, you're a good one... frick what the recruiting websites think.

best example I can think of right now is Mo Claiborne. Recruiting websites pegged him as a 3 star wide receiver. Les Miles knew better, and now he's going to be a top 5 draft pick.
