Several things have changed from that first game.

For starters, Blue and Hilliard had a combined 2 carries for 2 yards (both Hilliard) in the first game against Alabama. They have both come on huge since then.

It was Lonergan's first game back from injury, I believe, and it was also Ware, Simon, and Matheiu's first game back from suspension. They all played rather tentative, I thought, and I expect more from them in the next game. I think that Lonergan being back to full health will make a big difference, as will the emergence of Williford. The Offensive Line has gotten much stronger as the year has gone on, especially in the second half of games.

Jarrett Lee was completely ineffective and we had to scrap our gameplan in the second quarter and shift. His 2 interceptions were also killers.

It was Jefferson's first real, extended action. He played well, but I look for more with a month to prepare knowing that he will get the majority of the snaps. Honestly, I expect to see Lee come in as the change-of-pace QB with more downfield passing, ala 2010 in Baton Rouge against Bama.

It was our first time to trail all season, basically. We now have that experience and the experiences against Arkansas and Georgia that have made the team stronger.

TM7 did not return a punt on November 5th. He has been deadly since.

Our Linebacker play has improved markedly. We are seeing less Karnell Hatcher, it seems, and he was getting killed by Richardson on those little dump routes across the middle.

In many ways, LSU seems to be a much better team than November 5th with a much stronger identity. New players have stepped up the last month of the season. With another month to fine-tune and work on things and bring in new wrinkles, I think we should have a better chance of winning.

Also, obviously, we are playing in the Superdome in New Orleans instead of in Tuscaloosa.

I feel good about where LSU is watching the games post Bama. I agree we will have a better game this time around. I haven't watched Bama since that game, I wonder what areas they have improved.

From what I've seen of them, they seemed to go into a little bit of a funk after the loss. They still won games convincingly, but did not look as dominant as before the first game. Their special teams are still struggling, however.

Obviously, that funk will be long gone by the time the two teams play on January 9th and I fully expect them to be at the top of their game. It will be a great one.

Still, LSU wins by at least 10. I said that the first game and it didn't happen. I think it happens this time around.

Bama, with a month to get ready, will know how to defend against the option. Hopefully LSU is preparing something when the option gets shut down.

The month layoff is gonna hurt both or at least one team.
Wait and see.

SOmeone said the other day LSU is peaking at the right time.. I laughed out loud... We didnt look very "peakish" in the first half vs uga... furthermore any a 4 week layoff negates all that IMO.

LSU has played much better competition since November 5th. One could argue that Bama has not had a game of significance since November 5th as a matter of fact (Auburn is and was horrible). State is a decent team, but not a threat.

LSU had a cake walk right after 11/5, then played another patsy in Ole Miss. After that, it played two arguable Top 10 teams (one a no brainer Top 10 team).

I think that is a factor in LSUs favor. The TEAM has been challenged and met the challenges on two occasions. This is big.

However, when all is said and done, no matter how many of these threads are started, no matter how many LSU v. Bama fans are in the stands, the game will be very similar to the first.

Turnovers and special teams will determine the winner in what will most likely be a very close game. It will be a brutal game. At this level, it is almost impossible for one team to beat another three times in a row...LSU is attempting that in under a month. It is gonna be interesting.

I agree. LSU is much more tested and has overcome.

I also think that Saban will coach the last game. He regularly does this. Yes, he will be ready for the option, but we will have more in store for him. Actually, LSU hasn't run the option that much the past few games. I think we should have against Georgia more than we did, though.

I think we see Lee in the next game. I think we'll see some surprises. We haven't seen the downfield pass to Randle in some time.

Also, the jet sweep to Shep to get to the edges. Bama has the big, slow linebackers. We haven't seen that play all season, really. We will get to the edges however we can and it will make the difference. Then come back with Blue and Hilliard up the middle.

Williford starts now.

Jefferson starts now.

Hilliard and Blue have emerged.

Game is on field turf.

Not a hostile crowd this time.

Since the last game LSU has played a much more difficult schedule and stayed healthy. Bama has been mailing it in.

Hopefully our offensive skill positions, with the exception of Ford, plays more aggressively on Jan 9th than they did Nov. 5th.

we have played some strong teams down the stretch right ??
Saturday

Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA Won 42-9 ---
Saturday
11/19/11 at Ole Miss Rebels
Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, MS Won 52-3 ---
Friday
11/25/11 Arkansas Razorbacks was # 3 shouold have been ranked #15 or 16
Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA Won 41-17 ---
2011 SEC Championship Game
Saturday
12/03/11 Georgia Bulldogs wore us out 1st half no 1st downs
Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA Won 42-10
We have no offense it comes from the defense . The defense has won our last two games . Be real if our defense can not beat Bama we will lose , this game Saban will put pressure on JJ , JJ will have to think and fast .For Saban to lose would mean he could start looking for a new home !!
We are goping to be playing a Bama team that is out to prove something , they believe as their fans do, they should have won the 1st game . What do we have to prove ?? We have done it all, all that has been asked this team has done that . We are no better and at the same time no worse than this Bama team , in evry part of college these two team are even . Except the kicking game .I do not look for this to be a good game but one will just blow out the other .Motovation MOJO will be the key to this game . Who wants it the most .One thing for sure we cannot spot this bama team 10 ot 14 p[oints . If we do there will be no comeback , our weakness is you know where right ?? Right ! Thank you you just thought it !

We all know we are weak at linebacker. You don't have to hide the language.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Hilliard will be a major difference in this game.

I at this. Arkansas deserved to be right where they were. A dominant offense with an awfulish defense, sounds like a certain #2 team in the nation to me. Anyway, they were sitting just inside the top 10 at 9-1 when all of a sudden, everyone in foront of them lost. Alabama, Oklahomo, Ok. St., Stanford, Oregon, Boise, and prolly a few others I don't remember. Then they won, putting them at 10-1 with their only loss coming by way of the #3 Crimson Tide. They were right where they should have been when we beat the dogshit out of them. It illustrated the gap between Lsu, Alabama, and everyone else.

To stay on point, the way Lsu is waaay better is that JJ and his homeboy Les both have a month to prep for a game. The offense has been terrible of late, to be honest. The adjustments made by the coaching staff at halftime of every game this year have been lights out (apparently). It may be something as simple as the coaches flipping the "Skullfrick" switch to the On position, I don't know, but it works. "Seven three and outs in the first half? Oh hell no, Stud, flip the SkullF switch..."

The offensive line looked dreadfull the first half vs Georgia, then the second half, best I've seen probably all year. To me, the biggest improvement is experience. While Alabama sat, dejectedly looking on as we got to play another (injuryless) game, we got better. We got more confident in our ability to stage a comeback in the second half if needed, in the coaches putting players in good situations, and in the Honey Badger which is the most important.

No. Everything I said was absolutely correct.

I threw in "basically" because I didn't want to look up how many minutes we trailed against Oregon in the first half of the first game.

The only thing I would say is that Bama knew before the first game that LSU ran the option, so it couldn't have been a surprise. Saban even mentioned before halftime that they needed to do a better job against the option, but they still couldn't stop it in the second half. They were fine with their assignments in overtime when Ford made the long run on the option; LSU just executed perfectly and there was nothing Bama could do to stop it.

They had a heck of a time trying to stop the option against Georgia Southern, also. I just think their personnel doesn't match up well with teams that can run the ball to the outside.

That being said, I do believe Bama will be as prepared as much as possible for the option, so I expect the Tigers to run some wrinkles off it. I cringed when Gary Ganielson mentioned during the SEC Championship Game that he had seen LSU throw the ball off the option in practice. It used to be a part of every option team's attack, but few teams do it now. Maybe it will give Bama something else to consider when planning for the option. Perhaps we'll show it to them and make it even tougher for their defenders to pursue the pitch man.
