Three years ago I read these statements by many in Gumpland. "Les Miles is a Idiot", "where do I send the money to help keep Les Miles at LSU", "anyone could recruit at LSU, Les Miles isn't the reason for all the recruits at LSU". Now, I know these aren't exact quotes, but if you were on TD back then, you know these are as close to acurrate as possible.

Well, if you are a GUMP, what's the "ugly truth" now? Is Les Miles an idiot? Are you still willing to send your hard earned money to help pay Les Miles salary? Can any coach get the talent to LSU that the "Idiot", I mean Les Miles has recruited here?

Oh Please, give me the "ugly truth"!

i remember

They also said hiring $abun would make the 2000's look like the 70's again.

Perhaps it would have if they would just pay some more millions to $abun and $exton. Surely 9-6 would not have happened.

Yeah I remember all that bullshite. I'm trying to figure out who they are going to replace saban with. I seriously can't see him there more than maybe 2-3 more years.

Les Miles is now just following The Great and Powerful Saban's masterful blueprint for a successful program. A blueprint Miles has shared with his former coaches at Oklahoma State. You have Saban to credit for the success of Alabama, LSU, and Oklahoma State.

Some are even saying that if saban leaves, they will come after miles.

I shite you not.

What's funny about this thread is that I'm dead serious. I want to know the ugly truth about how they really feel about Les Miles. Oh, I know I won't hear it because the truth hurts.

Heard that delusional shite too. No way he would entertain the thought. He passed up on his alma matter twice, what makes them think he'd go to bama.

The irony is LSU fans have been making that prediction for a while now.

It wassnt just gumps. It was barners, and every other SEC fan.

We as a fanbase were partly to blame for that. i remember two amybe 3 years ago arguing with LSu fans about Les Miles as a coach, it was always 5 to 1.

Lots of LSU fans still had a hard-on for Nick Saban, and credited the 2007 NC to Nick Saban.

Funny how winning and success changes everyone's perception. I'm just glad les was able to keep himself, and the team focused during this rebuilding time, and do the things we are doing now in spite of our fans

They were making so much fun of Les up here in Nashville that they talked about him every day and would watch his press conferences to find anything to make fun of him.

I remember towards the end of '09 some guy looked over and said "do you ever wish we would lose sometimes so we can go ahead and get rid of miles?". Uh, no.

You don't have to go far back to find these folks; right here on TD.com last year we were 8-0 and pathetic "fans" were calling for his head.

I won't lie, after Ole Miss in 09 and UT in 10 I made some very unkind statments toward Les.

Having said that, there is an old dude who sits about our seats from me and he bitches at every game. I'm not and was never like that.

Well, in fairness, Nick hasn't been there long enough to reach the 70's era yet. If you look at at Bear's first 5 years, it isn't crazy to think Saban might hit similar numbers. Once, Bear started the winning tradition, he coached 14 more years. So, Saban still has 4 more years to start a tradition, then you can compare his next 14 years (as if he will stay anywhere that long) to Bear's body of work. But, at this point in their careers:

Bear '58-'62:
led Bama to 5-4-1 season first year, after a losing record the previous year
won a national title in year 4
between '58-'62 Bama went 41-8-4, 77.4%
1 national championship
1 SEC championship
1 undefeated seasons

Saban '07-'11:
led Bama to a 7-6 record first year, after a losing record the previous year
won a national title in year 3
between '07-'11 Bama went 54-12, 81%
1 national championship (playing for 2nd national championship)
1 SEC championship
1 undefeated season (2 undefeated regular seasons)

I got sick to death of this crap.

2007 - CLM's 3rd year at LSU.

2009 - $sban's 3rd year at Bama.

Les Miles won with Saban's players to the same extent Saban won with Shula's - but that little nugget of truth is forever lost to ESPN, CBS, and Gumpland.

Why in the f... would we just compare the first 8 years...and not the entire body of work.

Let me save you the trouble....They thought they could buy winning tradition since theirs died.....and well Miles has largely prevented that from happening.

And BTW $abun will never be a hair on the Bears arse
