We've all seen TM7 be a freakish playmaker on this stacked LSU team. Got into a debate with some buddies on whether he would be nearly this great of player on a mediocre team. He seems to really fit well with all of our talent, but would he be as dangerous on say a .500 sec team? (Not including Punt Returns)

Kind of wondered if this was the reason he didn't make All-American team, yet was the SEC player of year. Explain?

Now this, I don't know. Maybe because he doesn't really have a defined position, he plays where he wants.

They don't know how to handle a kid that has actually done what Tyrann has done on the field...and oh my that hairdo!

I definitely think all the talent around him allows him to do what he does. Not to mention the Chief's scheme. But make no mistake, he's a damn special player.

Just as good I say. Arguing otherwise sounds like a reason to cut him down to me. Basically saying "he's not really that good, he just benefits from great help, I'm sure others could do the same if they were allowed to be that aggresive".

I thought it was interesting (I'd never heard it before) that the CBS crew at the SECCG said Mathieu only visited two schools, Alabama and Tennessee, and got offers from neither.

Nick Saban is a genius.

He'd do what he's doing for LSU if that coaching staff knew how to put him into position to make plays

Yes it's great that all that talent is around him but he still is the one ripping the ball out, knocking balls into the air for INTS etc...

I think whatever team he played on in the SEC would have 2 more wins. Aside from bama (bc they only lost 1) and ole miss (they need a whole lot more than a honey badger).

I believe he could be great at Bama, and USC.

Your argument seems to suggest that on an inferior team that he'd be held back and therefore not shine as much...but held back from what, certainly not inferior players; on the contrary, he'd be even BETTER on an inferior team (i.e. more tackles, sacks, interceptions, etc). Having said this, I also think being on the LSU team helps him in every possible way (other great players complementing his play plus the tremendous exposure to the football world).

If you can find the interview with tyrann in Espn the mag, it is a great read. His preparation is very impressive.

He was "too small" to be a Saban recruit.

Debatable. Could also just avoid his side on a weak D.

Impossible. The whole field is his side.
