Went for lunch to the Poceh's located in Boutin's. Not bad. For $12 you get large portions of meat, rice & gravy/rice dressing, 2 sides, roll and a drink. Anyone else try it.

I went once a few months ago. I think I got the etouffee, white beans, and mac & cheese. White beans were great, mac & cheese was awesome, etouffee--I should have known better than to get it but I didn't really feel like meat and that's what I wanted. Not much crawfish and just ok flavor.

I plan to go back soon, and I'll probably get one of the smoked meats with white beans & rice. I tasted their sausage & it seemed pretty good. It also seemed like a lot of food to me--I saved about 1/2 of my plate for another meal. (But I'm a girl, so take that FWIW!)

Nothing like the original. They give you about 3/4lb of crawfish.

eta: and it tastes better than any etouffee you can buy

I thought their boudin was great. Didn't dig the étouffée very much, pork chop I had had been sitting around too long, I liked one side I had, don't remember what it was though, and didn't like their potato salad. You do get an obscene amount of food.

Very good, not as good as the original Poches, but hopefully you didnt have to see Boutin himself while you ate, although it's very hard to miss him.

Also mine was only about 8 bucks when I went

Yeah, the etouffee is around $12 at the original, but like i said they give you about 3/4 lb in crawfish meat alone.

The rest of the stuff is usually $6-$10

I guess we went on the wrong day. Myself and 2 of my coworkers thought Poche's in Boutin's plate lunches were nasty, so we've never been back..Poche's & City Cafe should have a contest to see who has the worst crawfish etouffee.

We tried the Friday steak dinner at nearby Matherne's, and that was pretty good. We also tried their regular plate lunches on another day and that food was disappointing.

I wish the Village Deli & Grocery on Perkins would hurry up with their new building, because their food is very tasty.

Sadly, there seems to have been some changes, and not for the good in the the Greek food at the Shell Deli on Perkins. Their Greek food used to be delicious, but now it tases like that crappy Arzi's Express in the mall.

Next?

Bluebonnet....I forget what all we got from their deli, but none of it was tasty enough for us to want to go back, except for steak Friday.

GIve them another shot. I get lunch from there at least once a week and I've always been VERY satisified. I've introduced alot of the people I work with to Poches and its become one of our favorites.

I agree that their etouffee isn't the best in the world, but I find it to be ok.

But give them another shot and try the beef ribs or the bacon wrapped, jalepeno stuffed chicken breast. Both are great. I usually get the white rice and gravy, and vary on what sides I get. Also, both of these are under $10 and like the above poster said, I can spread this out to make two meals.

Give either of those two a shot and report back.

Oh yeah, and I think their boudin is the best in Baton Rouge. My family is from Ville Platte and we always get our boudin from that area and I find Poches boudin to be the closest to that style of boudin.
