Taking the fam for a vacation next month, and I was wondering if there were any places in Gatlinburg, or fairly close by, that anyone could recommend.

We're going there too for Christmas. Rented a chalet near the resort. Hopefully you'll get some responses.

It seems to specialize in pancake houses...really. Had some good pancakes at one or two joints. Look for the places with lines.

The Peddler Steakhouse is one place that I usually eat every time I go to Gatlinburg.

No. Not any fine dining at least. If you like pretzels, cotton candy, pancakes and beef jerky every meal, then you're going to the right place.

There are a few good places for breakfast, not so much for dinner.

To this day, I crave the BBQ chicken I had in Pigeon Forge with the meal you get at the Dixie Stampede show...I wish I could find out what the seasoning was that they rubbed those little chickens with.

Pancake pantry is the best breakfast I've ever had up there. Line starts around 8 so get there at 7:30. Peddler is a cool steakhouse on the river. Make a reservation though. They have a Corkys which I like and a Calhouns BBQ which is average. Huck Finns in Pigeon Forge is good catfish and white beans. Not a ton of great places it plenty of choices.

not many good places to eat.

Pancake Pantry is the best for breakfast.

They have a Mellow Mushroom in DT G'burg and Pigeon Forge for good pizza.

We went to some apple orchard north of gatlinburg on 321, and it was great homecooked food and good experience

Pancake Pantry on the main drag for breakfast or brunch for sure, but like the PP said, line starts early. Great candy shop next door.

And if you head into Pigeon Forge my personal favorite for Breakfast or dinner is the Old Mill. It's literally an old mill right on the river a block off the strip. Breakfast is heavenly. Fried ham and cornbread is out of this world. Dinners are good large country helpings. Think fried chicken, pot roast, etc.

this

I ate at the Old Mill. Pretty much a Cracker Barrel without all the rocking chairs for sale.

Your best option is to drive back in to Knoxville if you want something nice. Other than that prepare for pancakes, bbq, and taffy.

Wife and I ate here and thought it was very good.
It was 10 years ago, though.

Nothing up here to write home about. In gburg, mostly "tourist" places. Don owns new Orleans sandwich shop. Drive back to Knox, ye olde steak house. Calhouns is over rated. Old mill is like a cracker barrel , but better. Blue mouse is a Lil wings joint, but if pancakes ate your choice, you will be in heaven

Apple barn is pretty good, it's a fun family place even if the food isn't gourmet. Grounds are pretty and there's several shops and a winery.

My favorite place is in Pigeon Forge, which is pretty close ( I pretty much consider PF and Gatlinburg the same place really) is Bullfish Grill.

LINK / Great food, good for families but still nice and not so touristy.
