Shrimp In Freezer Lifespan?

Does anyone know how long fresh shrimp can stay in a freezer?
I have a few pounds that were given to me, and I've been assured that they are from the Gulf and not off the coast of Tanzania.
A month or so? Maybe longer?

Longer if they weren't peeled first. Are we talking deep freezer? If so you can get three months out of them, a regular freezer should get you a month or two. If they are peeled they will last long, but taste very much like frozen shrimp.

Nah, they're just in a regular fridge freezer, but they are still au natural. Thanx, I'm glad I still have time to cook 'em.

Were they frozen in water? Your enemy is air getting to them while frozen. Air plus shrimp, frozen = freezer burn.

Not sure - I was told they came from the Westwego market (20 different people selling shrimp there), but that's all I know.

Look at the bag, it you see small pockets of air frozen in the bag, then use ASAP.

Peeled shrimp frozen in water can last at least a year. Even with their shell on they should be able to last just as long frozen in water. Ideally you would want to eat them before if you can.
