I don't care which year, which team, which coach, this is a stupid thing to say. The best team wins.

If you re-watch the game, Alabama was exhausted by OT. LSU was ready to go. We made their arse quit.

They were the best team that day, or else they would not have won!

It doesn't matter whose better, it matters who wins. That's why it is important to be focused and consistent every week, something that this LSU team brings. Better is subjective when dealing with similar comparisons. I say LSU has " better" special teams than bama therefore we won. Scoreboard is what matters.

The BEST team does always win. LOSERS say the better team lost

I agree, " best" is a subjective label used to pacify a losers ego.

+1

That's why they play the game.
"We lost, but we're still the better team."
Prove it. Until then... GFY.

The "best" team on the field is debatable with variables they affect the outcome.

The scoreboard is not debatable. The "Best" team isn't decided on the field, it's by the SCOREBOARD. NOT DEBATABLE

So what about when a ref gives a team a fifth down (Big 12 game a few years ago)?

When Bama lost to La Tech, they were the better team. Just played like shite on that day.

But I agree that, in 99% of the games, the best team wins.

These are the exceptions and they usually only decide close matches between equal teams. The competency of the refs is like the quality of the turf. Its part of the field.

Yeah.. I get pissed when they don't get it right, but their effect on the overall outcome at large is greatly exaggerated.

Tech played better than bama that day. Have to bring it every week, if you don't bring it that 1% ,than you can't complain in the end.

Another one I like..."We are the better but we just made mistakes and beat ourselves..."

Stupid. The better team doesn't make mistakes that leads to a loss.
