Anyone notice Verne's facepalm comment during the game yesterday?

During the play where JJ was sacked, Verne said something to the effect of, "He's caught in jail" or "He is in jail now", as to say he was caught on the field with no where to go. I am one of the few people on TR who actually like Verne for the most part, but this reinforces his misspeaks and foibles. A very bad misspeak at that. The lectures of Jarrett's pick 6's, the synthetic marijuana suspensions, and JJ and his bar brawl by Verne are old, obviously, but he indirectly made a very bad choice of words. Anybody else nothing that during the broadcast? SIAP and I used the search function.

I heard him reference mathieu by saying "he just takes what he wants."

Probably still a drunkard on the job

My dad doesn't care what people on the media say often. He doesn't watch ESPN ever, or reads any sort of sports columnist. He just reads the newspaper in the morning. So he's pretty uninfluenced to these sort of things
Today he said "That old guy that calls the games on CBS is anti LSU." I was surprised when he said that. I asked him why he thought so and he mentioned that comment and others. Said that just in his tone of voice and the way he reacts to plays.

Yea, I laughed too, while holding my face in my hands while shaking my head. But yes, it was still funny all in all.

Is there some way to petition CBS to replace that old fart! I'm so tired of his misspeaks, his every-week rehashing of this season's dirty laundry, and mispronunciation of Chase Clement and Drew Alleman's names!

That's pretty interesting, albeit I don't think he's anti-LSU. He just likes to say "WOW" and "Oh my GOODNESS/GOSHHHHH" when things happen and I actually enjoy that. Maybe I'm not paying attention to his tone close enough but that's interesting insight from your dad.

At least he makes fun of himself and knows he can't talk right. Danielson just laughs it off too. At least he says Lutzenkirchen right.

Verne is an idiot. After like 3 first downs he says that Arkansas has held us without a first down.

smart man, i like him already. these "talking heads" are full of shite and people pay way too much attention to them. these guys have to talk to fill in the time they're alloted and there really isn't that much to say.

Do any of y'all actually watch the game itself, or just sit there waiting for any perceived slight to pounce on from the broadcasters? I could barely even tell you what the broadcast teams say, it's all white noise to me.

I actually watch the game, but I do both. I'm a Mass Communication/Broadcast Journalism major so I pay attention to the broadcast itself to compare and contrast to other broadcasts.

Today during the iron bowl, out of nowhere, he says "11/26/9"...then silence. I was like wtf is he even saying.

I don't care for Verne, but not because of any anti-LSU sentiment. He is just not good. Old and behind a step. It's just kind of sad. How do you call Jordan Jefferson, Jorgenson? That's just retardedness. I just want a person that doesn't have to wear Depends and doesn't drivel on the microphone. He's just hard to listen to. And I can't stand the delay with Hawthorne, so I listen.
I will say when he dropped the "Well, he takes what he wants." after the strip fumble, I about fell out.
dude should retire or just do golf or some other slow sport. Football has moved past him.

He says that often when a player is surrounded. He caught flack a few years ago from Bama fans for saying it about Mark Ingram because his dad was in jail.
I thought Bama fans were stupid for making a big deal about it then and I think LSU fans are stupid if they make a big deal about it now.
