Leaving at 8 PM tomorrow evening from Ohio. Will arrive in Baton Rouge around 11 AM on Thursday. Any advice on what to do before the game on Friday.?I know my options are limited since it's Thanksgiving lol. Also, what time should I arrive for tailgating on Friday? I will be staying at the Belle of Baton Rouge. Thanks in advance and Geaux Tigers!

Most places, I would assume, be open on Friday but I'll let someone who lives in BR take that one.

Get to campus fairly early. Parking places will vanish fast. We park just north of the stadium.

You must:
Visit other people's tailgates
Go see Mike
Watch the players and the band come down the hill

If I had to guess, the players would walk down the hill around 11:20 or so, the band about 45 min later.

Visit the bookstore and get you some more LSU stuff.

Cheer like hell!

Damn. it's a shame your first will be an afternoon game. there are just so many tailgates to visit, so many traditions, and so much fellowship to experience in such a small period of time.

Wow. This season FLEW by.

Yes this season has flew by, but it has been one to remember so far. I'm sure there will be tailgating and other activities going on after right? I want to experience as much as possible.

Very welcome! You're going to be hooked. It'll make you want to come back for the Bama game next season. At night!

Do you have ties to the school/state or are you just an outside fan of the tigers?

Tailgating for the most part but it will be all over the place. There might be a band or something set up right in between Tiger Stadium and the PMAC (where the basketball team plays). But generally it's tailgating all over. Some set ups are more elaborate, meaning inventive, than others. I love seeing all the set ups.

I saw one guy a couple years ago that couldn't find a portable blender so he took the motor out of a weed eater, stuck it into the housing of a blender. Freaking awesome. He had to pull start it!! It was the size of a regular blender, just ran on gasoline!

I was a huge baseball fan and I remember watching LSU baseball in the late 90s when I was around 9-10. I am 24 now. After watching their baseball team, I started following other sports (plus my dad is a UK fan so it pours salt in the wound lol) I applied to go to LSU after high school but things didn't fall through. I have loved everything about LSU and of course I live around Buckeye fans so they don't understand me lol. I decided it was finally time to save up and go to a game.

Cool. I've bumped into Skip Bertman a couple times, I have a pic with him.

For the Florida game this year, my dad and I were walking around, just outside of the stadium and we bump into Paul Manieri.

Never know who you'll see just walking around like everyone else.

You have certainly picked a pretty good game to be your first in TS. Hope is all you are expecting and more.

That's one of the things I was plan on doing on Thursday. I have actually been to LSU campus and seen Mike, but I'm bringing my gf so she can experience everything too. I told her that it's one of the most unique and amazing campus' in America. I'm just having a hard time on what we are going to eat on Thursday lol. Any suggestions?

I started a thread about this on the Food/Drink board last week. I'll be getting to Baton Rouge around 5 or so on Thursday evening too.

I heard a couple places will be open. Ruffino's, a place called Jubans, and Copelands to name a few. I think we're going to head to Copelands. Maybe I'll see you there!

Ruffinos looks like a really good place and so does Copelands. Thanks for the suggestions!

Very welcome. Never been to Ruffinos but it seems like a very nice place. We had a Copeland's here in Lake Charles but of course it closed (not a knock on Copelands, just that it seems like when chains open up here, they never get someone to run it properly and it folds. But different topic for another time). I was living in Florida at the time and never went to it. Mom and dad really liked it though.

Ruffians is bery good. Copeland's is solid and has a good variety. Being from the area, I would do Ruffinos but only bc Copeland's is kind of a staple.
