Questions Regarding Zombie Feeding In The Walking Dead

Yeah yeah, another TWD thread. Deal with it.

Here are my questions for TWD guys who know just about everything:

What happens to the zombies if they don't feed? Do they un-undie? What's the deal?

For example, if the the Zombies in the barn weren't fed chickens, would they go cannibalistic on each other? Can they go forever without feeding?

Also, I thought Zombies fed off of human brains? Why would they eat chickens, horses, etc. Is this a different make and model of zombie in TWD?

Thank you for clarifying this. I really love the show, but never saw this addressed in a thread. If I missed it, my apologies.

I want to know why undead flesh doesn't rot like regular dead people.

I've wondered about Zombie feeding since the episode with the zombie hanging from the tree. Do they have to eat or is it just something they do cause they're zombies?

Don't know this one but

No these aren't your brain eating zombies. They eat meat. We have seen several instances of the zombies eating animals already. Just happens that humans happen to be in great number and a lot easier to catch and take down for a zombie than a wild animal is.

It is generally believed zombies don't need to eat, but do so out of instinct.

Why was the tree zombie chewed up? It may have happened before he turned. It is also possible zombies are sometimes cannibalistic.

1. TWD zombies just crave living flesh, no matter where they get it from (humans or animal).
2. TWD zombies do not eat other zombies.

SPOILERS:

At this point in the comics, it isn't known if the zombies will eventually "starve". Some zombies are very active and go after any sound they hear, and continue moving on and on and on. Others just wait until food is close enough to get their attention.

So, potentially the zombies could "starve", but up until this point in the comics (about two years after the outbreak) most zombies are still very active.

Feeding the zombies in the barn is just because Hershel sees them as sick people, rather than dead people.

I think that guy was probably chewed on before he turned.

This.

Hershel is an interesting character. I don't like him or enjoy his screen time, but he's insane in a realistic way.

Tree zombie hung himself before he turned because he was bitten ( reference note on tree).

My geuss of his timeline is: Bitten, hung himself, died, was chewed on by another zombie, "undied"

I'm curious about zombie digestion. They cut open that one to check its innards and it had a stomach full of shite it ate. So do zombies poop? If not, do they just continue to feed until their stomach ruptures?

i think zombies get some form of nurishment rom eating. The freshly dead zombies move better then the long term dead. I think eating gives the zombies more "pep"
