1. Abita 25th Anniversary Vanilla Doubledog-bought a bottle at Breauxmart for $3.85. Decent, and a lot has been written about this one from you guys.

2. St. Arnold Weedwacker-It is a little on the thin side with a wheat like and clover taste up front. Overall a good summer brew.

3. Sprecher Octoberfest-I have waited two years to try this one. I got the last eight(16 oz.) bottles from Brusin' Ales. It is thick and chewey with good flavor and easy drinking, aslo has won numerous awards. I am a big fan of this style but I prefer Samuel Adams, Summit, and Ayinger.

4. Dundee Octoberfest-Bought a sixer to watch the Alabama game at Albertson's for $6.99. It is too malty and sweet even for the style and the taste is just not there. The store should give me $7.99 change.

5. Sweetwater Motorboat ESB-Brusin' Ales had to fill in four spaces for packaging the Sprecher order and I got lucky. This style is extra special bitter but it is not bitter as the name would imply. This beer is clean, smooth, with lots of flavor. Sweetwater IPA is great also and I think that the brewery hit a home run with this one.

Thanks for the reviews. I have not heard of the Sprecher, so I will be looking into that here. I was also unaware that Dundee made anything other than that terrible (IMO) honey ale. And based on your review this one should never be on my radar.

I am a big fan of Sweetwater beers and it is a shame that we cannot get them in LA.

I agree with you on the Weedwacker. St Arnold's took their Kolsch (Lawnmower) but used their wheat yeast instead of the german ale yeast, hence the clove flavor. Since they do not use wheat malt in the beer I felt that it was lackluster. Good but lackluster.

it is a hell of a lot better than Lawnmower was, though

It was more interesting than Lawnmower but I don't take anything away from Lawnmower, it is a pretty good kolsch. Kolsch's in the US are just boring beers.

They are expanding their brewery right now in the hopes of broadening their reach and pushing this way. Should be completed just after the first of the year. I hope we can get some here soon, because I like all of their stuff.

And if they want to throw some Terrapin on the truck that comes this way, that would make me happy too.
