How LSU compares statistically with other NC contenders

Offensive Categories:
LSU Total Offense: 369.00 yds/gm (#79)
Oklahoma State: 565.30 (#3)
Alabama: 434.20 (#35)
Oregon: 498.30 (#8)
Oklahoma: 545.89 (#4)
Arkansas: 455.70 (#26)
LSU Scoring Offense: 36.50 pts/gm (#18)
Oklahoma State: 51.70 (#2)
Alabama: 34.50 (#25)
Oregon: 46.70 (#3)
Oklahoma: 45.44 (#6)
Arkansas: 38.80 (#13)
From those two categories, I wanted to see how efficient each team is at converting those yards into points, because average starting field position can greatly diminish a team's overall gained yards. So I simply divided the points by yards, to create the following category:
LSU Points/Yard Gained: .0989
Oklahoma State: .0914
Alabama: .0794
Oregon: .0937
Oklahoma: .0832
Arkansas: .0851
LSU Rushing Offense: 195.10 yds/gm (#30)
Oklahoma State: 171.10 (#45)
Alabama: 215.30 (#18)
Oregon: 291.80 (#5)
Oklahoma: 165.00 (T-#53)
Arkansas: 144.40 (#73)
LSU Passing Offense: 173.90 (#99)
Oklahoma State: 394.20 (#2)
Alabama: 218.90 (#71)
Oregon: 206.50 (#79)
Oklahoma: 380.89 (#3)
Arkansas: 311.30 (#11)
LSU Red Zone Offense: 98% Scoring Rate (#2)
Oklahoma State: 88% (#25)
Alabama: 85% (#44)
Oregon: 91% (#9)
Oklahoma: 90% (#20)
Arkansas: 89% (#22)
Defensive Categories:
LSU Total Defense: 253.20 yds/gm (#2)
Oklahoma State: 442.20 (#101)
Alabama: 181.40 (#1)
Oregon: 385.40 (#63)
Oklahoma: 360.22 (#46)
Arkansas: 375.20 (#56)
LSU Scoring Defense: 10.70 pts allowed/gm (#2)
Oklahoma State: 26.30 (#62)
Alabama: 7.10 (#1)
Oregon: 27.70 (T-#33)
Oklahoma: 19.78 (#21)
Arkansas: 21.50 (#30)
Similar to the above created statistic, I believe this is a good measure of a defense's ability to "bend but not break". It is a measure of how many points opponents are able to score per yard they obtain, so the lower the better here:
LSU Points Allowed/Yard Allowed: .0422
Oklahoma State: .0594
Alabama: .0391
Oregon: .0718
Oklahoma: .0549
Arkansas:.0573
LSU Rushing Defense: 83.80 yds allowed/gm (#3)
Oklahoma State: 186.10 (#88)
Alabama: 51.90 (#1)
Oregon: 147.20 (#56)
Oklahoma: 127.33 (#35)
Arkansas: 172.20 (#74)
LSU Passing Defense: 169.40 yd allowed/gm (#6)
Oklahoma State: 256.10 (#93)
Alabama: 129.50 (#1)
Oregon: 238.20 (#80)
Oklahoma: 232.89 (#72)
Arkansas: 203.00 (#35)
LSU Turnover Margin: +1.50 (#3)
Oklahoma State: +1.80 (#1)
Alabama: +0.50 (T-#27)
Oregon: +0.50 (T-#27)
Oklahoma: +.44 (T-#33)
Arkansas: +0.10 (T-#52)
LSU Total Offense: 369.00 yds/gm (#79)

Oh. Hell. Yes.
OSU wouldn't have a chance to beat LSU. Being able to run at will will keep LSUs already awesome D off the field resting and keep their O off the field.
Such a great matchup for LSU.

SVP said same thing the other day. Said he could see LSU running for over 300 yds on Okie State.

OSU has covered up a poor defense with a great offense and the ability to get turnovers.
A team with a ball control offense who doesnt turn the ball over should be able to neutralize their offense, not to mention have kickass defense who is deep and would be rested.
We destroy OSU!

Whoa now guys, slow down. We need to have our stats guy here do the same thing for Ark and GA games so we can see what our chances look like. Still a good chance we drop a game, but hey, with the toughest schedule ever played on Earth by anyone at anything, we should be able to get in with a loss. Hopefully if we did it wouldn't be the SEC championship... talk about a weird scenerio.

Probably has more to do with opponents being behind all game and needing to throw the ball to keep up.

Which is why being ranked 88th in rushing yards allowed per game is so amazing.

It is statistically the best defense since 1986 Oklahoma I believe.

Bama has played one prolific offense all year...granted they only put 14 on them, so props.

Only thing missing is our stats for special teams. That's what makes us extra special, in my opinion. Especially punting and field goal kicking.

I believe that OU will defeat OSU and that we will have to contend with the Sooners in the NC game. Oklahoma will be a very difficult match-up for us, as those statistics demonstrate. They have a prolific spread passing offense and a formidable rush defense. That's the formula for beating LSU, if there is one. We haven't faced a team with that combination all season. We've faced teams with prolific passing offenses (WVU) and teams with stout run defenses (Bama), but never a single opponent that possessed both those attributes.

I would love to see this broken down into TD and FG instead of simply percentage of vists scoring.
