If you watch this video, at the 0:49 second mark, you will see 3 great blocks against the best of Alabama's vaunted defense.
LINK

#27 Hilliard against All-SEC player #4 Mark Barron

#76 Faulk actually blocking 2 men: #99 Chapman and their all world linebacker #30 Hightower

And possibly the most athletic block delivered by #53 T-Bob Hebert on the other all world linebacker, #35 Nico Johnson.

As you watch further, you'll see both #30 and #35 still almost catch up to Ford, but those blocks were just enough to spring him.

Alabama talked about "taking away LSU's will", but in the end, the offensive blocking and RUSHING attack was the difference against the teeth of their defense.

That was a very good play.

Faulk actually got 3 on that play.

Yeah, I actually saw that breakdown...but wanted to make mention of T-Bob's block. It was not mentioned in that article specifically, but when I watched the video, it stood out to me. It kinda got lost from the screen, but you could see the block being initiated. And T-Bob has been much maligned on this site...but in this case, when it mattered, he threw a key block in the clutch.

The other point that was not mentioned is this: the players blocked at the point of attack were 3-4 of their best defenders.

Solid observation & explanation on your part for the play of the game! Would have been some NICE if Ford would have scored.

T-Bob plays better from the G slot than from C, and he plays better than many on here give him credit.

That was a great play by everybody. If Ford had a half size smaller shoe....

As I recall, Ford stepped on the sideline at TS a year ago against 'Bama on what would have been about a sixty yard TD. He has great acceleration.

I missed that block by T-Bob, but had taken notice of the other two blocks by Hilliard and Faulk. T-Bob's block was super.
Nice job by all!!!
