Going to early dinner at GW Fins with 3 couples before the game. Looking for suggestions for a nicer bar (maybe one of the hotel bars) to watch the game. Somewhere with a good bar, tv's, and decent wine for the wives.

Any suggestions?

Champions square next to the dome will be showin it. Also selling food/beer.

ETA: Just actually read your post, champions square is where ya wanna be tho. Sneak some whiskey in for the men, some box wine for the ladies & party w/ some real fans (not at some shitty hotel bar)

I might get panned by some, but the new Walk-Ons on Poydras has an impressive TV display (old Smith and Wollensky location), and since you will have already eaten, we don't have to debate the food part.

i would go to Walk Ons over on Poydras. It is a very short walk and the place is pretty new. I was there prior to the Saints game this past Sunday and had a blast.

1. Champions Square
2. Walk-On's (very crowded)
3. Gordon Biersch
4. Checkered Parrott (horrible food but a lot of tvs and not crowded)
5. Three Legged Dog (small but fun)

If Walk Ons is packed and your looking for more sophisticated place for the wives, go across the street to the renovated Hyatt. great bar, lots of TVs.

Due to the extreme magnitude of this game, your situation and what you are looking for sounds absolutely horrible.

I considered this and then considered that every sidewalk fan from the westbank, metairie, and kenna brah will be there and then decided against it

This. The new sports bar area has private booths and looks like a very class setting.

Walk Ons is going to be an absolute mad house and I'm guessing if you aren't there three hours before kickoff, you ain't getting a seat.

Mr. B's has some TVs at the bar and is a really nice place with great wine for the wives. Not exactly a prime gameday spot, but fits the description you're looking for IMO.

Not really for the wine crowd, but I partied with a bunch of Alabama fans at Ernst Cafe last year for the game and had a blast. They were in town for the NAR realtors convention.

Thanks for the suggestions all. We originally planned on dinner after the game assuming it would be at 2:30. First thought was Walk Ons but it will be packed before we get there. I like the Hyatt suggestion. Not worried about overly classy, but I am not interested in Champions Square for reasons mentioned above
