The by line belongs to Jeff Duncan, (I assume the writer for the Times Picayune) he deserves our disdain not the NYT. This crap is coming from a local source not New York city.

i actually agree with this and have been saying it myself as of several weeks ago. But I would qualify it by adding, 70s Alabama Football.
the basic smashmouth, the smothering defense, and cycling of a stable of running backs were hallmarks of the great Bama teams of yore.

The formula for success this season has been:
• Virtually mistake-free football
• Super defense
• An offense that can sustain drives
• Virtually mistake-free football

I don't imagine Bama patented this, but it's fair to say that most of these elements were essential to their 2009 team. Bottom line: who gives a shite. The important—and absolutely most noticeable thing—is that our 2011 Tigers are playing the most mistake-free football of just about any Tiger team we've ever seen. This team is certainly more executionally sound than any other in the Miles era, at least in my opinion. Hence the results.
