After reading all of the back and forth crap about the situation, I had to get this off my chest.

I am angry because I am a true LSU fan and alumni. I take a lot of pride in both my school and my football team. I, like everyone else on here wants nothing more than for our team to win every time they play, however life is about a lot more than winning or losing a football game.

The players in question are not the typical college kid who receives their chance by riding mom and dad's pocket book. They were given a chance to represent their school and receive all the associated benefits while receiving an education. They should be held to a higher standard. This is a larger problem of society, and it upsets me that people on here rationalize that what they did is ok. Yes people make mistakes and people recover. However, some people make mistakes and keep making mistakes because they don't receive a harsh enough penalty. When you make adult decisions you should get adult consequences. I say kick them the frick off the team and let them figure out if they can go on to learn their lesson. Let the kids who do the right thing play wether we win or loose.

Lastly, I am a military officer and I have seen many good Soldiers screw up. As a commander I had to make the hard choice to kick some kids out who had enormous potential, but I made the hard right every time. I did this because having values and a moral compass are important to maintainh a functioning team. It's not that smoking pot is a huge deal, but rather the fact that you are expected (and required) not to do it. Some positions in life require you to think beyond yourself. Representing your school in the way these kids have the opportunity to do so is one of those positions.

I just hope in the end my kid turns out to be like JL.

Don't care if you read or not.

Nice post, agree with you mostly, i'd say suspended for 2 or 3 games is more appropriate however. missing Auburn and Bama will make them fly straight. It was the first offense for all of them correct?

If this was the issue, I would agree. There is no anger, but I don't understand why in the hell someone would risk what these guys did for themselves and their teammates to get high during this season when they knew what the repercussions would be.

It's not about getting high, it's the risk they took using horrible judgement. Anger isn't how I feel, total bewilderment is more like it.

I say you suck. And what the hell is a true LSU fan? Do I have to be in the military to be one? Can I smoke pot and still be one? Do I have to want to ruin 3 kids lives over an innocuous event to be one?

I'm a fan. This event has not deminished my enjoyment or pride in this team in any way. Lighten up Francis.
