Is it just me who is angry at the SEC for letting Missouri into the SEC, Texas a&m brings something but Missouri brings nothing to the table but to weaken our conference. For years the SEC was looked upon as a less appealing conference, now that we have established our true dominance, no spread offense, not trick plays , just big boy football, now every clown is trying to beat down the SEC door. and for more money our governing body will let anyone in. We used say we had strength of schedule that no other conference could compare to but now it's getting out of hand. I used to love bragging about the SEC and thought college football was the last standing sports genre not for sale, wrong .give me your thoughts.

Not sure yet if it even IS Missouri. But...Missouri is the type of team that will beat a team or two every year that it should lose to. They'll even have some very good teams sometimes.

I think moving to the SEC will help both A&M and Missouri...there's a lot of football talent to be had and the lure of playing in the SEC will probably help them win a couple more recruits.

That, and the additional $$$ to get some hotshot coaches will help.

So, what you're saying is Missouri is the type of team that exists?

Mizzou is pretty good at Basketball(While they let our coach get some on the job training at least).

A&M is good at Baseball and Track.

Both are AAU colleges.

Both cover big TV markets.

Neither is horrible at football.(I.E. Vandy, Ole Piss)

Can't really complain about them. They both bring stuff to the table.(If Mizzou comes also that is)

You haven't read the board much, eh? This has been discussed ad nauseum. Times are changing. These moves, while largely based on football, encompass so much more. It's about viewers, dollars, and about branding. It's those things that have factored in to make the SEC the elite conference.

Sure, the quality of our football programs means something. What good is that quality if our teams play in obscurity? You have to open the doors and show the world. Further, you have to open those doors and sell that product. There's no monopoly here however, our neigbors and folks down the street have a similar product. So we have to keep investing in our product, keep tweaking it so as to remain commerically viable and keep viewers coming back for more. We can't do that if we sit still. Missouri allows us to improve our brand. It allows us to branch out. While they aren't an exact fit, do you think Vandy is? How about S. Carolina or Kentucky?

In the end, all these people bitching will get used to it. I'm sure many folks complained twenty years ago when the SEC took in Arkansas and S. Carolina. Bottom line, a lot of people don't like change. They find it hard to grasp change and keep up. Perhaps some of us are just better that seeing the bigger picture and how sitting still, keeping things the way they have been will only lead to decline and ruin.

it's pretty much just the Arkansas fans that want Mizzou in. so they can feel more involved in the conference.

fricking either get over it, or bump one of the other trillion cryass threads about Mizzou coming to weaken the conference.

We don't need a new thread every time some nimrod gets it in his head that LSU and 'Bama will catch whatever Mizzou has that will somehow magically make our ball clubs suck.

The SEC wants Mizzou because it lifts the academic standing of the SEC, as they are a member of AAU. That is very important to Slive, etc. In addition, Mizzou does have big support for its athletics. They have a lot of potential like ATM. Don't underestimate the academic side of this. The 2 latest additions to the SEC are members of the AAU.

If academics = research (and only research), then sure.
