According to a Wall Street Journal study of where a team starts the year in terms of rankings and where it finishes:

1. Florida State
2. California
3. Tennessee
4. Nebraska
5. Florida

well that list is total bullshite. how can you win 2 bcs championships and be considered "over rated" for the decade?

UGA ought to be in the discussion.

I'm pretty sure starting the season ranked in the top 10 and ending unranked hurts more, than starting in the top 5 and winning the national title helps.

the metric is broken though. winning 2 national championships should be given far greater weight than simply a +/- of starting poll position relative to end poll position.

who decides what the definition of "over-rated" is then?
obviously, this persons metric is broken since it lists UF in the top 5. seems like most people agree with that.
