What the hell are you talking about?

whats so hard to understand about the statement. going from X to 1 should count more than going from X to 15 or some other random number.

another flaw in rating a team based solely on where they finish is what happened during the season. if a team lost significant players for virtually the entire season due to injury, how does that make them over rated? they were not being ranked in the preseason based on the backups playing QB or RB.

you cannot take a completely subjective topic such as this and quantify it based on numerical data.

Quick question, do you think the Yankees were overrated in this past decade?

i dont follow baseball all that closely for the most part.
however, didnt they win 90 games every year during that time span and 2(1,3)? world series?

i couldnt really call that over rated. i think most people would assume that the yankees would win 90+ games and have a reasonable shot at winning it all each year, thats what they did. seems like they would be properly rated then.

Just curious because some people think that they should win every year because they have the highest payroll, yet they "only" won two in that decade.

By the way, we get it that you do not like the formula. However, it is simple, effective, and not false. It may not live up to your standards, but there is nothing wrong with it.

the yankees could have a $300 million payroll and wouldnt win the WS every year of a decade. like any game, there is too much variance for the best team to win each and every time.

anyone expecting that is being unreasonable

well that list is total bullshite. how can you win 2 bcs championships and be considered "over rated" for the decade?

They won 2 BCS Titles, there are 8 other years to consider.

You are utterly confused in this thread.

Look, this metric is not broken. You simply do not like it.

Pretty good list, FSU and to a lesser degree UF tend to be valued highly no matter what in the preseason. I was expecting Michigan to be higher on the list though.

FSU is no surprise since they were living off of the 90's rep for most of this last decade...but hands down...

CAL was obvious. Never did much despite all the high preseason rankings and promises. Their claim to fame was beating USC in OT in 2003 and almost beating USC in 2004. That's it.

I remember in 07 they ended up 6-6 after being 5-0 (if they had beat Oregon St they would have been #1 since LSU had lost to Kentucky)

Yeah, the typical Cal collapse.

1) They couldn't beat anyone good on the road; and
2) They couldn't keep their QBs healthy for an entire season.

They won at Oregon that year IIRC, but lost to OSU at home their first loss of season, OSU owns Berkley.
